#90sproblems Topps Gold Label

1999-00 Topps Gold Label to be exact.

For those of you that are 90's fanatics like myself this topic has always been puzzling to me. Most agree that there are only 3 1/1's per player in the set. I am pretty sure that the checklist stated that was inserted into packs of the product stated there were 9 1/1's. I feel like there has never really been solid proof either way. I have done some searching and this is what I have came up with. I was trying to updated my excel spreadsheet to make it up to date and figured out that Class 1 1/1 is gold, Class 2 1/1 is black, so that makes class 3 1/1 red. From what I have found the labels and classes vary which makes me think there are 9 1/1's.

The set has 9 parallels that are not 1/1:
Gold Label: Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3
Black Label: Class 1, Class 2, Class 3
Red Label: Class 1 (#ed to 100), Class 2 (#ed to 50, and Class 3 (#ed to 25)

The below link is for a 4 card lot of 1/1's from this product. 2 are of Alan Henderson and both are red label.

Pretty sure either doublex or abra broke this set down fairly comprehensively a little while back, maybe if you could find that thread it'll help.

I'm unsure about whether or not the 1/1 totals were addressed, though.

I appreciate the response! Yeah I think I saw that thread but the one of ones are still kind of a mystery especially since they look very similar to the base.

Every player has 3 classes + 1, and I think for each of them, there are three 1/1s corresponding to different label colors but same action shot in the background.

It would be nice to have a definitive evidence that one finds same player same class but different 1/1s. But this is not achieved yet personally in basketball. Becausing seeing two 1/1 from same players are already hard enough. But different players same class do have different label colors showing up, partially confirming this.

For example, all three are 1/1 class 1, but in gold, red and black respectively.

Also those 1/1 come with odds unlike most 90s rare parallels. From number or cards in a pack and odds, one can roughly deduce how many 1/1 there are. I remembered I once did that, it suggests 12= 4 x 3 of 1/1 for each player.

I'll be extremely interested if someone can show me two 1/1 of same player and same class.

Update my post with pic. Would love to see more 1/1 with black label, as Campbell might be red or gold with a bad scan.

I also saw Marbury 1/1 class 3 with gold label. My Kobe class 3 is in red label.

There are supposedly a 1/1 of all 3 colors(red, gold, black) of all 3 classes. So, each player has 9 one to one's. I believe that I've seen a couple of gold 1/1's but can't recall any blacks. The red 1/1's seem to be the most common to appear for some reason. I have a theory behind that though- I think that some of the golds and blacks got overlooked. The reds don't get overlooked because they are easy to spot and every red pulled is serial numbered. So, when you see a red you automatically know to look at the back to see the serial number.

In regards to the insert 1/1's, I have only ever seen red 1/1's so I am not certain any other color exists. I'm traveling for work or I would look at the empty packs I kept to see all of the odds. From what I remember, the one to one odds on the base set are 1:684 or something like that. Odds on the different insert sets are something like 1:6,000 packs but can't remember the exact number.

I have an Alonzo Mourning black label prime gold 1/1. I posted about it a while back and included pictures. Round Mound responded below me, and he has multiple Charles Barkley 1/1s, but they are different classes(1&2).

So are we at 12 cards total? If I'm reading this right, then there is a 1/1 of every card Class 1-3, Gold/Black/Red and then in ADDITION there are standalone 1/1 cards per class?

My theory is that Topps randomly picked one card from each Class (whether it's the regular, Red or Black) and stamped it with the 1/1. I think there are only 3 1/1s per player (+ the 1/1s for the players featured in the insert sets).

IM pretty sure there are 9 1/1s of each player. This was deciphered in the old hobby king days. I myself have multiple color labels of the same class that are 1/1.
