In Theory you could contact another Moderator or if egregious enough such as a Moderator Stealing from you (WOULD NEVER HAPPEN) you could contact Blowout Corporate. That being said the only way I could see that they would become involved was if things had reached a level that they had to respond to protect their business and reputation.

So if you are having a minor tiff with a moderator I wouldn't expect them to take the call.

also not sure what you did when you took away my sig but your actions also resulted in my stored messages being reduced from 500 to 100 .... had to delete a ton of stuff I did not want to in order to send and receive messages .... thanks for that as well.... care to explain that to me?

I would be happy to explain. The default is 100 messages. When we grant you signature and avatar privileges, we also grant you additional room in your messages.

When you break the forum rules, you risk those privileges being revoked and being suspended from the forum.

I am not inclined to restore those privileges as you have been nothing but rude since I sent your warning.

Fish has provided me a warning in the past (thread bumping), to which I have since been very respectful of the rule.

Houdini just dropped a suspension on me without warning (made a "political" thread). At least I believe it was Houdini as he bumped a sticky regarding "political" threads the same day I was suspended. For some members (depending on their temperament), this would be the beginning of a downward spiral leading to banishment.

There are pros and cons to each style of moderating. I personally respond to warnings, but with some members, there needs to be a swift form of justice.

The forum mods shouldn't give a rat's-a about how much a forum member spends on wax on this site. Their job is to maintain the forum rules. The minute special privileges are handed out based on being a regular BO customer is the same time the forum falls into chaos.

I do represent BO. What I represent is a forum that will not cater to anyone regardless if they spent $5k per week or had no purchases ever - neither matters.

The forum rules are for everyone. If you want to insult others with petty insults in your signature, you will lose that privilege. If you cannot post without insults, you will lose that privilege as well.

I don't know why it is such a difficult concept to get that the Mods make decisions that aren't subject to appeal or review by an outside governing body. Even if the mods actions are arbitrary or malicious, this is a privately owned forum. The mods aren't taking away anyone's ability to make a living or taking away any other rights, they are taking away the ability to post on a forum that the owner has put them in charge of.

Granted it is a public forum, still has to be fair and since it has no bearing if somebody spends XXX amount of money with BO, it should not matter that the forum is owned by BO, its a forum. IF someone is tasked with managing something I would assume impartiality and fariness would be hand in hand. TO me acting in any other way diminishes what I have read people convey since i joined in 2012.

I am wondering this: why does this post not get deleted, from the get go, wouldnt this have elevated alot of this. Or was this a case in "giving enough rope to hang themselves." I also dont like the implication that one has to grovel and plead to be able to get "privileges" back, no matter what attitude they have. IF someone does something that gets them temp supsended they get temp suspended, if it goes on and on they get banned. and I want to paraphrase this-- but to me this is what I saw "your are a tool and you did what 20 other people do, but you called out the mods and I took your sh*t away--when you get back from suspension if you ask nicely I will give you sh*t back"

I like think that I walk the straight and narrow, but the implication of a dictatorship or "they can do what the want" is displeasing to me.

I can only remember being overridden once.

Honestly, I think you do a good job handling it and keeping it clean of issues. I also appreciate how you and the other mods show reasoning and past examples of things and allow members to be warned about others.

This isn't a publicly owned forum. It is privately owned by BO and they have absolute control over it with no obligation of fairness. Regarding what you have read since 2012, it is great that the mods put great effort into be fair and impartial, but we aren't owed or entitled to that treatment.

Regarding your though that the thread should be deleted, I agree completely with that. I understand that people would cry that things are being hidden, but that is just too bad.

Edit - I just wanted to add that one thing that is so great is the ability to express differing opinions like respectful adults. How boring would it be to read any thread if it was just every agreeing with what the last person said.

Please don't just launch accusations - back up what you say.

No matter what anyone does, everyone will not be happy. The mod team has a job to do and a boss to answer to. You don't owe the forum an explanation of why you did what you did or have to prove that you acted appropriately. I think it is very nice that you are willing to spend your time explaining your actions so we can all make sure that we are following the rules. It is mind blowing how some people on here are willing to talk to others like dogs when you know that they would never consider saying 10% of the trash if they were face to face.

This is not North Korea. Granted it is a public forum, still has to be fair and since it has no bearing if somebody spends XXX amount of money with BO, it should not matter that the forum is owned by BO, its a forum. IF someone is tasked with managing something I would assume impartiality and fariness would be hand in hand. TO me acting in any other way diminishes what I have read people convey since i joined in 2012.

I am wondering this: why does this post not get deleted, from the get go, wouldnt this have elevated alot of this. Or was this a case in "giving enough rope to hang themselves." I also dont like the implication that one has to grovel and plead to be able to get "privileges" back, no matter what attitude they have. IF someone does something that gets them temp supsended they get temp suspended, if it goes on and on they get banned. and I want to paraphrase this-- but to me this is what I saw "your are a tool and you did what 20 other people do, but you called out the mods and I took your sh*t away--when you get back from suspension if you ask nicely I will give you sh*t back"

I like think that I walk the straight and narrow, but the implication of a dictatorship or "they can do what the want" is displeasing to me.

How is wanting people to follow the rules in any way remotely akin to a being a country known for its atrocities? Has Houdini been test firing nuclear missiles at competing message boards? Has pskell been locking up and starving the customer service people again?

I truly believe you're making the common mistake of confusing freedom of speech with freedom from consequence. At no time has anyone ever said you CAN'T do whatever you want on these boards. You obviously can do literally whatever you want to do. That being said, if what you do is illegal or doesn't line up with the TOS, you'll be banned. That seems quite simple.

Especially when you also keep in mind that this board is private property. We're all spending time in a house that doesn't belong to us, so when you drop a turd in the punch bowl, it's time for you to go.

Oh, and before we forget...this is a SPORTS CARD AND ENTERTAINMENT MESSAGE BOARD. We're not exactly curing cancer or world hunger by bitching and moaning about redemption cards and how Panini can't center a card to save their own life.

Maybe some people do need some time away from this board to refresh their batteries and remember that this isn't the end of things, and maybe one should not be so serious.

Also, maybe one should not lament about a loss of freedoms when they have more freedoms than they know what to do with.

I'm more of a open door policy believer. I had my cell in my public profile. That was to justify my stance on communications equates to resolving issues. It was taken off but it's their rules and their decisions. Life goes on.

The lack of communications equates to : Conflict, Seperation, Divorce, etc. there is nothing good when communication is bad. Some members may take this as "Big Thinking" but it's better to do more than less. I never had another member abuse the use of having my cell. It helps in communications.

If anything, I think this thread offers a lesson. The moderator's shouldn't be questioned.

I actually used the report button to seek answers the other night, and I instantly regretted going that route. A member forcing themselves on a moderator is a recipe for disaster. It is not only off-putting, but it is borderline harassment. If a member does that repeatedly, then I cannot blame the mods for banning that member. I was close to banning myself a couple nights ago. :D
