View Full Version : Is 2016 Prizm supposed to be centered 50/50?

So I just received a card today and looked at it and unless the prizm cards are supposed to be a little off centered, I don't understand how they graded centering on this a 10? Am I missing something here, I have other graded prizms and their centering is all over the board so maybe it's not supposed to be 50/50 (and by that I mean the bars on each side.

I think it's off. Maybe a 9. Not sure how that got a 10

Is the back perfectly centered?

Is the back perfectly centered?
It looks the same as the front, the right side is bigger than the left.

Then IMO they are starting the grade point from the small right side border where the black starts on the top right. Making it appear to look shingled. But if the back is OC then not sure why its a 10.

I think the design makes it hard to determine the centering. Going by the red/white/blue sides, it does look off L-R. However, looking at the name (which I assume should be centered), the centering doesn't look off.

Always thought you go by the small black dots on the dark gray bars on the upper right and lower left corners on the front.
At least this is how I gauged it. But apparently that's not the case.
Usually if there are 2 and a half rows of dots (half the last dot cut off by the edge) then it's perfectly even on both sides. That's my logical brain talking.
But yours has 3 full rows with a bit to spare on the right side...so who knows.

That seems like a logical view. Because there is no way, even the worst of graders, would grade that a 10 if centering was determined by the red, white, and blue sides.

That is what I thought as well in regards to the dots.

Without starting another thread here, I have a question about Optic centering. Take this Dak for example, the front seems well-centered, but the back has much more space on the right side.
However, when I look at all my Optic, it seems that the vast majority have backs with more space on the right. So, is this Dak back centered or not centered?

It's centered, but for grading purposes, the back will push the centering grade down.

Courtesy of our beloved banned member. Check the dots I referred to. Almost 2.5 rows on each side.

Just goes to show exactly how much of a sham modern grading is.
Just lol@strict guidelines.
I trust these ebay momma's garage companies more than some of these new BGS and PSA slabs.

Then it sounds like almost all of my Optics (thousands) backs are not centered in the same damn way, with more space on the right. Thanks Panini!

I need to get my eyes checked. That looks 60/40 at least T/B and R/L front and the back a little worse
