For anyone in the market for a Unitas autograph. STAY AWAY FROM 2001 UD LEGENDS AUTOGRAPHS. Unless it is slabbed by bgs or psa/dna. There has been a hug explosion of fakes on eBay past couple months. Please don't fall victim.

Stay away from any non slabbed autos of this set. They are heavily forged and it is a known issue.

The card itself appears to be the same however the auto is different. 95% of the ones I have seen in the past year have been fake. I have a saved search for all unitas autos and it is constantly filled with these.

If you go to ebay there is a slabbed one as well as plenty of raw examples. Compare them. The auto isn't close on most.

No bubbling in the ink is, typically, an easy test of fakes from this release. Also, the fakes tend to be way off center, as that one is. The '9' should not be touching the bottom edge at all. They're also sending them in to the big consigners now, too, so watch out for that.

ok, so I just bought a graded version(not the one above luckily). I did notice that some of the raw card signatures looked off. Here's the one I bought. Thoughts on if it is legit? I just got it in last week so I can return it if need be.

Yours looks legit. Forgeries are so bad it's laughable.

Thanks. I did notice several autos on raw cards that looked way off. It made me nervous buying one so bought a lower grade since it had the slab.

Yeah. Yours is a beauty. I used to have a 9.5 with a 9 auto...wish I had never sold.
