I've been in a card coma....help

I've been card sober for about 2-3 years now, quit cold turkey after about 15 years of collecting. Dipping my toe back in now. I need some updates on the hobby.....

Ebay still the best place for buying?
COMC had just taken off, still a good place for low end stuff?
What the hell happened to Topps Chrome? What is the new topps chrome (ex: good brand for parallels)
What are the good high end brands? NT still tops? Did Exquisite fade away

Anything else would be appreciated.

eBay is still probably the best place to buy although there is a lot more scumbags out there so be careful. COMC is probably a good place to buy low-end stuff, esp commons in bulk.

Panini owns the license for NFL cards, so there is no Topps Chrome. Optic or Prizm has taken the place of it, depending on who you ask.

NT and Flawless are the high end brands currently and with Panini as the sole licensee, there is no Exquisite.

ebay yes for highend things. COMC is great for low end and inserts. Also if you are a flipper. Sportlots is great if you are a set builder. Topps Chrome is donezo. I would recommend Optic as a replacement. It was very popular this year.

Same here, the loss of Topps Chrome is huge for me, I break it every year, is the staple for me on Rookie cards. Optic was nice and I did like it, but miss Chrome bigtime, oh yeah, Tom Brady card price sales, have gone thru the roof, lol that is another thing you missed.

Optic is more like chrome but the price point is about 2x that of chrome so it's really better to buy singles. Prizm is not like chrome. All sticker autos. If you're ok with stickers Select is better than Prizm in my opinion.

I am a bit partial, but I love Prizm! It was my alternative to Topps Chrome while Topps Chrome was still around. I liked Chrome, and have a bunch of parallels, but the last couple of years for it, especially 2014, it was terrible, so I transitioned to Prizm and have gone like gangbusters with it. Select this year looks great, but past years it wasn't really anything to write home about. You'd be ok to get into Select this year, but since it was after I had to trim back on my collecting, I haven't gotten anything for the Packers from it.
