You know, the ones in cardboard with the team logo sealed by manufacturer. When were they first produced?

I see some on eBay from 2006.
2006 New England Patriots Factory Team Set Brady | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2006-New-England-Patriots-Factory-Team-Set-Brady-/371906946809?hash=item569761a6f9:g:A-cAAOSw5cNYLQ2b)
Anything before that I can remember has been something put together by the LCS or re-packers...not the card companies themselves.

A long time ago. I'm not sure on exactly when. When I started collecting in 1986 they had them. I would guess they had them at least several years earlier.
Edit: I misread the question. I thought you said factory sets. Didn't see the word team.

one of the years Topps or Score mare them they had different numbers from the regular issue set cards...not sure which years though, I'd have to look....noticed it in my Bradshaw collecting. Same cards, different numbers.

I've got a 2006 Topps NY Giants sealed team set hanger pack that was inside one of those re-pack boxes.

The Topps Jets sets for 2006-2008, had numbered to 12 cards, some players had cards (2006 Tim Dwight,, his only Jets card) who were never in the base set.
