I mean, the man was a f*ckwit, but would be a unique story behind the cards to tell in the future

Initial theory on timing of his decision is that he was waiting for recent trial to end so whatever money he had left would go to fiance and daughter. Of course those are just theories and he's still a convicted murder

i have no intention of buying them, was just curious if his death would push the market and it definitely has. what an insane dual auto... tim tebow and aaron hernandez. crazy what 7 years can do.

every card seems to get a posthumous bump no matter the player or cause of death. i think because he was a star connected to brady at one time, had a horrific dark side leading to his downfall, and now took his own life in prison... it all adds up.

I get what you're saying but prison rules are different. Just cause he's in a solo doesn't mean people can pay off guards to get to him, etc. He's gang affiliated, so it wouldn't take much for it to happen. So I can see why the conspiracy guys would bring it up.

Give me a break, there is one fact Aaron Hernandez is dead. Even knowing that hanging is the cause of death takes an autopsy though it is likely the C.O.D.
It wouldn't be hard to open the door and then stage items behind it as if they had been put there when closed by the decreased.
Staged hanging in jail/prison by people who are "alone" have happened before. There is motive for rival gangmembers and correctional officers and clear opportunity.

I'm definitely in the minority, but this is sad. The guy had the talent to be one of the best tight ends ever. I followed both trials closely and have little doubt he either did or had a hand in both of them, but just the story of how he got there was very intriguing.
Probably, the craziest thing I read was from the latest ESPN article and mentioned the worst thing to happen to him was for him to be drafted by the Patriots as he went to Florida to get away from the gang life only to be drafted by his hometown team where he fell right back into it.
If there were to be a book about his life, it would definitely be a must read for me.

^^^^ This guy gets it. Just an amazing talent. One of the best and yet felt the need to turn to a life of violence. Why?
I find stories like these interesting. What led the Cleveland Facebook killer to randomly shoot an elderly man only to turn the gun on himself a day later? Why didn't he just do that to begin with? To say, "because they're messed up in the head" is the equivalent of saying a "retarded person is dumb." That's not an answer, nor is it the correct one, as there's a lot more to it. A lot of which we, normal people don't understand.
Much like the sad story of Javon Belcher, to come back to a football related topic, where he suffered from CTE. Fans will call him "messed up in the head" but why was he messed up in the head? We have a long way to go to figure these things out.

- I agree that him wasting his talents was sad 2-3 years ago.
- I'm not sad about this news.
- I don't believe the story that he went to Florida to get away from gang life. He was affiliated while he was there I'm guessing, just someone trying to sell a story. If being drafted into the NFL and signing a contract for $40M doesn't get you out of the life then changing locations won't either!

I agree with this, more news will come out of this, what will it be??? My feelings or thoughts are, none of it makes sense, after 3 years behinds bars and just beat a double murder trial that had much do with the first murder of Odin, not sure, but this might of been first time Hernandez was in general population lockdown, if so, then it sure looks like someone else took his life and not him hanging himself, I think if he had thoughts of taking his own life it would of been way before the good news of beating the double murder. Also, self hanging is a act of desperation or weak broken mental state, Hernandez was neither, how does someone give up after getting the best news in 3 years behind bars???? Everyone claims he is a punk gangster, ever hear of a punk gangster killing himself, no. I know I will get some backlash for this post, I really do not care, none of it makes any sense to me right now,
I can't grasp the idea of him giving up now and taking his own life at 27, nothing adds up to this. Mentally people do not just give up if there is light at the end of the tunnel, the not guilty in the double murder open the door for a retrial on the Odin case. Mass state law requires a appeal on felony convictions.

Didn't the state law in the first murder trial make him guilty by just being present? Something he admitted to, and something that was proven.
I know he basically had the same defense in the second trial...but I believe that was a different state.

3rd party observations are fine, unless it's something that you don't want to believe apparently.
You can try and spin your BS however you want. Saying that he isn't dead and wondering how he became that way are too very different things and because you can't answer my questions you feel the need to distract.
Aaron Hernandez was just found not guilty in the double murder trial, his lawyers were pushing forward with the appeal of the first conviction.
He spoke to friends and family in recent days and was normal and upbeat about direction/outcome of his legal cases.
He left no note and had shown no signs of any suicidal indications.
These are very suspicious circumstances for Hernandez to take his own life. There are already people close to him claiming that he would not have killed himself.
I don't know what happened but I sure hope we find out the truth.

I am sure he still had some money left that will go to his daughter.

According to the law I guess that doesn't matter;
"Though Hernandez was convicted in 2014 of murdering Odin Lloyd, Hernandez’s appeal was not complete. Abatement ab initio means “from the beginning,” Healy said, and it means that upon a person’s death, if they have not exhausted their legal appeals, their case reverts to its status at the beginning -- it is as if the trial and conviction never happened."

Yeah, I get that part....that is everywhere. We have a constitutional right to face our accusers...even through appeals. The law should be this way.
Just strange some are acting like he might have got off, that the second trial might have freed him from the first. They couldn't even bring up the other murders in the first trial. I think someone even claimed it opened up the first case...which isn't true from what I can tell/know. The appeals are mandatory on murder cases I am pretty sure.

As you can see from some of the posts on this thread this Hernandez thing will go in every direction. Just more fodder for the media to regurgitate for weeks or even months. We saw what happened with the O.J. trial and I am sure we will see much of the same thing with this.

Conspiracy theorists are funny. I have seen many people hang themselves in jail. One was a Marine on a shop lifting charge. Anothers brother was a famous rapper. EVERY SINGLE TIME the family says we killed them, they wouldnt do that, they had alot to live for blah blah blah. Its all BS. I have personally been accused of murdering a person by their family, because I was the one that found them hanging. Sure even though I cut them down, Performed CPR on them, hooked up an AED and did everything possible to try and save them. Ignore the conspiracy BS because that is all it is.

I'm not 'spinning' anything, just pointing out the convenience of believing what other people observe only when it fits your narrative. People have seen his body, so he's dead, but other things that people saw don't count.
As far as why he killed himself, it starts and ends with spending the rest of his life in jail with no chance of parole. Seeing his daughter had to be tough. He appeared happy to see her while in the courtroom, and then he got to back to jail and think about how he'd never spend one second with her outside of jail visits. Yeah, he just 'won' the other trial, but what impact did that really have on his life? There wasn't a chance in hell the other conviction was getting overturned, and he knew it.

I think the better conspiracy theory would be, how come it took one hour to get the hospital to be declared dead. I don't imagine the hospital was 100 miles away.
He likely took his own life. I am honestly surprised more in his type of situation don't. I know I would greatly consider it.
Someone who is qualified declared him dead at the scene. They then had to have the police arrive to investigate. Then transport him and then legally the coroner declared him dead after his investigation of what he died from. I assume.

The only people that I feel sorry for in this whole mess are the people he killed, their families, and his little girl. They were all victims of this sorry excuse of a human being. I do not even feel sorry for the girlfriend, since she helped him hide evidence. She got off easy. Hernandez got off easy, too, by taking the coward's way out. I believe it was a suicide, and investigations will prove it. Someone needs to tell Jose Baez that the well just went dry.

It's because now that he is dead his conviction is vacated since it was still in the appeals process. Now his estate has more protection against civil suits. To me the timing makes perfect sense. He's running out of money and what's left will now go to his family.

'Investigators also looking at possibility he smoked K2 synthetic marijuana before hanging himself - the same kind he smoked after killing Lloyd. It is known to cause psychotic episodes'
For those unaware, there is easier access to drugs inside prisons walls than there is in the outside world.
What's crazy is that the original murder conviction could be vacated due to a legal loophole in Mass. Pretty much meaning a civil case would be extremely difficult, and the money left to his daughter and wife would be hard to touch.
Seems like the picture is becoming a lot clearer.

Perhaps the coroner will be able to do that extra battery tests on his brain, looking for evidence of CTE and the like. While it would not at all excuse his actions, the presence of pre-existing brain damage could help explain them.

I agree with this. This is a tragic end to a tragic story. You can pull a guy from the ghetto, send him to college, give him millions of dollars and fame, yet none of that can help him overcome emotional and mental issues. The guy grew up without a dad, now his daughter (and children of his victim) will grow up without one.
People making money off this is pretty sick. I can't believe what people are paying for his cards.

I just want to correct one thing- Bristol, Ct is not a ghetto. Far from it. It's the home to ESPN for those who didn't know, in north central CT. His brother DJ was the quarterback for Uconn, and I believe he is still involved in college football as a coach.
Stop making excuses for this turd. He chose to be a "gangsta". These are the results.
Maybe he was guilty of the double murder as well and couldn't live with the guilt.

makes a little sense now. I just saw pics last week of him blowing kisses to his daughter. just thought it would be weird he would do it where he cant see his daughter again.
but I guess this is his way of supporting his daughter since he couldn't do it out of prison

I wouldn't necessarily classify Bristol as a "ghetto" either, however like many populated areas there are bad sections. Comparing the ESPN campus to where Hernandez went to school/grew up in Bristol isn't entirely fair either. Would I compare it to the north end of Hartford or even parts of Waterbury...no, but there are bad areas and when you surround yourself with other bad people you are bound to make poor decisions

So many questions on how and why you could possibly come to that conclusion in your brain, let alone put it on the internet
Maybe if it's someone talking down to a grown man, but if you're just saying "I'm gonna hang out with my boys" or "go hang out with your boys", that is innocuous and is terminology used by all races and anyone that gets offended when used that way has been indoctrinated with too much victim mentality bull ish.

Such an immediate reaction puff piece by ESPN. It's like when you first hear from a neighbor that just found out the person living next to them has been involved in a serious crime..."they always kept to themselves and seemed like a generally nice person"

I thought the same thing when they read the "not guilty" verdict and he started crying. That's the first real emotion he'd shown through 2 trials. Maybe he was overcome with guilt because he really did do it. Just a thought...we'll never know now.

Saw something today that under Massachusett's state law if you die during an appeal of a conviction that the conviction is null and void. This then means that he technically never violated his contract with the Patriots and they would be liable to pay the $15 million guaranteed that they owe him from his contract to his daughter/family. Not saying it's true, but it was definitely something interesting to read.

Which would mean the Patriots are now in violation of the last couple salary caps. I can almost hear Goodell think. Patriots fined $50 million, forfeit the 2016 championship, lose the next two 1st round draft picks and Brady suspended 4 games.

Definitely interesting, however there are several "default" clauses in these contracts which include self-inflicted injury, mutilation, death or other damage to their investment (the player)
That's what I've been made to believe, anyway.

A very sad end. If there was anything funny about this thread it's that people actually thought someone murdered him, lol. The guy was a pro athlete, 6'1 250lbs, he was not going to get murdered easily, there would have been so much evidence. It doesn't matter if multiple people would have been involved nothing clean would have came from trying to murder a pro athlete , there would have been blood, bruises, broken bones. Just a sad sad end.
