This has got to be it...
1998-99 Metal Universe UDA PSA/DNA Auto Michael Jordan Precious Metal Gems #/50 (http://m.ebay.com/itm/1998-99-Metal-Universe-UDA-PSA-DNA-Auto-Michael-Jordan-Precious-Metal-Gems-50-/192163329148?hash=item2cbdd3b47c%3Ag%3AxWoAAOSwHptY9-ma&_trkparms=pageci%253Af4bd67e9-25f8-11e7-803e-74dbd180d627%257Cparentrq%253A8cab3e6415b0a9cb548b524affffe28b%257Ciid%253A1)
If it's real which I think it is, I imagine it was signed in the early 2000s when pmgs weren't extremely expensive.

Any idea why it was graded as "trading Card' Rather than as a PMG? Kinda strange, right?

:coffee:So many RED FLAGS!
So foul that PSA even graded this. They only use "Trading Card" on custom cards, or un-certified cards. PSA acknowledges the card is fake but they think the auto is real. UNLIKELY. We need better HD pictures. Alsonthe lack of provenance for the autograph is sketchy!

Yea I've seen them do that on signed reprint MJ RC's too. It's like they're not labelling it what it is cuz they haven't authenticated the card or the card is a reprint etc. But they're authenticating the auto

What the $%&* If a card has that many red flags it should not be graded.

It is not graded, only slabbed and authenticated auto.

Yes.
And I've seen it most commonly on Bill Russell 1957 Topps (Reprint) Autos.....
Less understanding collectors assume that since it's in a PSA case, the auto AND THE CARD must be legit.
It's too bad in the case of the Bill Russell's because I've seen people pay over a grand for a real Bill Russell auto on a fake card. One of those ought to be under $100.

Is that a UD authentication sticker on the back? If so, where is the matching documentation?

Are your saying that the insert card is also geniune. PSA didn't authenticate the card itself, just the autograph (i.e. Trading Card). Also, where is the matching authentication for the sticker affixed to the back of the card? Thanks for your help!

Interesting, however, it does state that their database doesn't include items prior to 2002.

It's also the camp signed stuff. You won't find camp signed autos in their database. Only sessions where he signed for them directly

Looks newer than 2002. If it was camp signed there should be a picture somewhere...

man.. awesome card but I think that he should've asked MJ to sign something different. the card's already a knocker all on its own, doesn't need a signature (which is tough to authenticate officially)
but man.. for what it is, it's still a monster!

Seller should post pics of the COA to attract more potential buyers...

Can you send a real card in that's autographed and just ask to get the auto verified and slabbed?
If it were the real card I find it odd to that they sent it off to be authenticated only and not graded also even if it would of gotten a lower grade.
If you notice underneath in the display case there is a s%^# load of graded MJ cards.

It is kind of like running into Randy Jackson from American Idol and only having a Samurai sword for him to sign. You can't NOT get his autograph......

Correct me if I am wrong, but if the card would have also been graded, wouldn't it grade terribly? The autograph would have to be viewed as a massive surface flaw because it's not supposed to be there. From a pure grading standpoint michael jordan signing that card or me signing that card has the same effect on the grade right?

This is not accurate. PSA/DNA red flip is a different service than standard and provided the auto is deemed authentic and the customer asked for both grading and authentication, they will red flip it with a grade for both auto and card.
This is blue flip so only an opinion on the autographs authenticity was provided. I've seen blue flips labelled with the card set and name and also simply as "trading card" as we see here when the card is clearly authentic so it's a bit grey if you ask me.

So why do the blue labels exist? (I won't get into how an autograph on a card it wasn't designed on is or isn't damage, too big a can of worms)

"Starting in January PSA is making changes to the way items are encapsulated, and the information on the flip cards.
Starting in January all cards sent to the New Jersey office will be labeled as Trading card instead of having the card brand, year and number on the flip. This in part because of the abundance of fake cards that are being created. The New Jersey office does not have any card graders working there so they do not have anyone who can say that a card is real or not so they will just be labeled as trading card.
Cards that need to have the year, brand and card number on them will have to go thru the California office and they will be labeled as such.
Also they will be adding grading services to the authentication service. For an additional fee you can have the card and or the autograph graded. You will now be able to have a card and auto grade on the flip card.
Pricing for the services will be available in late December or early January."
The blue flips with year and brand are pre 2016. All post 2016 blue flips say trading card. If you want the card authenticated and or graded you send to the red flip service in Newport Beach rather than the blue flip place, New Jersey.

So with that being said, it's a healthy assumption that any auto'd card in a blue holder should be viewed with extreme skepticism regarding it's authenticity?
