Well, tonight is possibly the lowest point in franchise history. It can only go up from here :)!.
My hopes for the off-season:
Sign Milos Teodosic @ 3 years, 24 mil
Sign Tim Hardaway JR @ 4 years, 64 mil
Sign Dante Cunningham @ 3 years, 9 mil
Sign Jeff Withey @ 2 years, 10 mil
Trade Trevor Booker on draft night for a second round pick and take back a younger PF/C, also trade/release Justin Hamilton. Possibly trade Kilpatrick for a 2nd round pick as well, or use to move up in 1st one or two slots.
Bring back McDaniels, Goodwin, Dinwiddie, and Acy.
Draft Hamidou Diallo @22, Pasecniks or Kurucs @ 27. Josh Hart in the 2nd round as a 2-way contract guy, as well as bringing JPV from the 2015 draft over.
Ideal rotation for next year:
Teodosic/Lin/Dinwiddie/
THJ/Whitehead/Archie
LeVert/McDaniels/Diallo
RHJ/Cunningham/Acy
Lopez/Withey/Nicholson
Stash the pick @27 until next season.
Lin gets 30 minutes a night as 6th man/combo guard, moving into a more suitable role.
Probably not going to happen at all, but a best case scenario IMO.
Here's to the coming season!

Interesting thoughts as far as trades go, hoping some stuff goes right for brooklyn in the offseason. As a celts fan i do feel really bad for the franchise

Interesting, you don't think Dinwiddie will get more of a run? I thought he was really good this season. Also, you don't want to trade Brook for pick(s)?

Honestly not really sure what the front office is gonna do but I trust Marks. Personally I'm not really sold on Teodosic but when you have as little talent as we do and a ton of space, it makes sense to try and get him. Would like to see a stash pick with one of our first rounders.

Also sounds like Marks would like to take on some more salary dumps to get some picks or young players. Lakers could be looking to do that if they go for George.

Dinwiddie is no more than a 3rd stringer. Obviously, I wouldn't mind seeing Brook traded if the value is great, but odds are that he will be a Net to begin the year.

Well, let's get weird.
Before the draft and we already made a franchise-altering move. I am absolutely going to miss Brook and wish him nothing but the best, but DLo is a game-changer for us.
Excited for the next few years.

at least what type of players marks is looking to acquire, the long athletic multiple position player, is probably the correct mold of player/team to go for nowadays. russell im not sure is all that athletic and so far doesnt play defense, hopefully he becomes a star and hopefully is mental ability, focus, and maturity is better than what it seems from the outside looking in.

Super upset despite the fact that the move makes 100% sense for the team. Brook loved the franchise and very few players would genuinely feel that way about the Nets and their current situation. Glad he managed to become our all-time scorer last season at least. He'll probably have his number retired one day.
With that said I'll get over it, I really like the job Marks has done so far in essentially building this team from nothing. Sure Russell has been labeled to have attitude issues but I feel like Atkinson will help him mature. He's not a superstar yet, but he has serious potential to become one, and that's what the Nets need at this stage in their rebuild. And unlike Andrew Nicholson, Mozgov should at least be able to contribute to the team a bit.

We got our man signed in OPJ. Just have to hope the Wiz don't match. We have also been linked to Olynyk, which wouldn't be a horrible signing.
Should we miss out on Otto, I'd imagine we go to salary dump mode for assets.

There is a part of me that thinks the wiz dont match the porter contract. Even though they are pretty much capped at this point i have a small feeling they dont match

Still have adequate space to go after KCP if they so choose. Not sure that's the route Sean Marks will take now, however.

Why be happy with shedding hamiltons contract when youve now take on Carrolls? I had high hopes for him in Toronto but he did nothing

Fortunately he is being waived for your sake, but he was far and away the worst player on the team last season.
As far as Carroll goes, there is hope that he will finally be 100% off of the knee surgery. Additionally he fills 2 needs: veteran leadership that is missing between Brook and Foye, and also a need at the 3/4 to compliment RHJ and LeVert. He has had his best seasons w/ Kenny on staff, and there is a plan for him to replicate his role on the Hawks due to the similarity of the systems.
Low risk move as we have all of the cap space in the world, and now could have 3 picks in the top 40 next year, while we had 0 coming into the off-season.

I mean i like the optimism and hopefully he plays better than he did in Toronto for your sake but there were several occasions where it seemed like it was beyond anything physical and he just wasn't mentally there.
I'm glad we got rid of his contract and Hamilton will be waived as well. At the end of the day, odds are the 2 picks end up being low-mid 20s and late 30s

When your draft pick situation is as bad as the Nets is, you take what you can get. Carroll fits two needs, so this is a win-win trade IMO.

Looks like Marks got his man (from last summer). Interesting way to use much of our remaining cap, but at least we get Nicholson off the books to soften the cap hit. Compared to what we would have paid Porter or KCP, I think this is a solid acquisition.

So while Boston still obviously benefits by having our pick to bring in Kyrie, the Celtics no longer directly benefit from our future performance. Strangely that feels good.
Can't wait for the season to start. Hoping Atkinson can work his magic in terms of player development.

Good riddance. Fingers crossed it isn't a top 10 pick. If everything (and I mean everything) goes right, Nets could sneak in as an 8th seed this season.
Lots of guys returning, something we aren't used to in Brooklyn.
Less than 2 months until DLo lights Brooklyn on fire!

My amateur opinion:
1. Cavs (not changing until LBJ leaves)
2. Celts
3. Wiz
4. Bucks
5. Raptors
6. Heat
7. Hornets
8. 76ers
9. Nets
10. Pistons
11. Knicks
12. Pacers
13. Magic
14. Hawks
15. Bulls
Just my opinion, but the Pistons are a dumpster fire. Pacers, Bulls, Hawks all got significantly worse. Hornets got Dwight, but that could be a nightmare, which is where the Nets would sneak in. Knicks have no PG (Ron Baker doesn't count).

interesting over/under. would you realistically accept the nets being 6th worst in the nba this year. thats 5 spots better than last year and wouldnt be giving cleveland a good chance at the #1 pick. its hard to judge it now before we actually see the teams, people are optimistic now, i think that reality will set in more once the season begins and we would probably gladly accept 6th worst.
2 obvious things should/hopefully will happen this season. nets trade booker for a salary dump plus a 1st rd pick. nets fleece some team for a top 40 pick for rhj.

Sucks for Jeremy and the team. I was high on them and honestly thought they had a chance at winning 30 something games.
As a Bulls fan, it makes me even sadder because without Jeremy, I don't think this team wins 30 and would be lucky to hit 25. Which means a Top 5 pick for Cleveland and tougher odds for the Bulls.

The Nets have no inside presence.... absolutely no low post scoring. If the shots that they chuck up all night are not falling, they have no chance of winning that game. Also RHJ needs to take more shots to the basket. He can easily be a 20-25+ point scorer every game for us.

11-01-2017, 01:51 AM
this is where the reality of the nets not signing any big men in the offseason comes into play. even if allen is in, hes unlikely to do anything other than dunks and putbacks. the nets started off good it seems at this point because booker had about the best 3 game stretch of his career. now he cannot make a free throw or a layup, and about the only things hes attempting lately are layups/long layups, and he keeps missing. levert is ice cold and thats because his form isnt good, he may improve but hes not gonna be a great shooter with that form. and the worrying thing is that every shot he misses is on a different part of the rim, its never consistent. he needs to have his form corrected and that probably wont happen, if it ever does, until next summer.
crabbe is basically a max player and hes had like 2 good games the entire season and is ice cold lately except for about 2 shots he'll make in a row. not that he gets or takes a lot of shots to start with.
nets will be lucky to start 5-15 now, this is their probably easiest part of the schedule for the entire season. they should have been 4-1, instead 3-2, now 3-5. they could easily lose every single game in november until they play the hawks back to back at the start of december. they could easily go 0 for november. thatd be 3-18. i think probably they would shoot well a couple games and maybe win 2 games. thats 5-19.

I was at the game last night in Boston. I have to say the Nets play hard. Kyrie and Horford were too much for them, but that did not stop them from keeping the defensive pressure up all night! They fought the entire game on both ends of the floor and almost stole one. If they were completely healthy they would be a playoff team IMO.
I'm not sure how you guys feel, and this is based on a single game, but if I were a fan I would want Acy moved ASAP. He hustled and hit a big three at the end, but he never seemed to be playing within the offensive scheme or playing with the other players. He seemed to be trying too do too much and to do his own thing all night. I could be completely off base, it was just a side observation I made from the balcony! Of course that gives me the ability to analyze his game and call him out, right?

Acy is out of the rotation when Jah gets time Wednesday, IMO. He's a good vet, but takes so many bad shots.

Two good wins in a row. When DLo gets back, this team is going to be crazy fun to watch.

I won’t repeat myself from the Boston thread but the C’s stole one tonight. I’m impressed with where the Nets are given everything they’ve been through since 2013. You’ll be enjoying some fun and meaningful games next year. That’s a lot quicker than most people imagined would happen. After the 2013-14 season I thought the Nets were set back 10-15 years based on the impact of losing all the draft picks. The current front office has done a tremendous job taking on a tremendous challenge.

Great performance by Dinwiddie and RHJ. Once DLo gets going again, this team will be a pain to play.

I really like seeing this team win.
I will let Cavs fans wish that this team were worse.

Glad the bulk of the team is staying together for the year. If Crabbe can break out of this slump like he did last night, this team could start stealing a few wins again.

they are approaching the point ala last season where theyll play several teams trying to tank and get meaningless false wins to improve their record when that other team rests their top 3-4 players and the nets will look good playing against the other teams bench. which im not complaining about getting as many wins as possible since they of course dont have their pick, again.
its hard to believe theres already only 26 games left. the major point for the rest of this season is to watch allen improve like he already has dramatically, and then see if russell can at some point start playing decently this season. and it may matter less, but we can watch if crabbe ends the season hot like he usually seems to so we'll forget about how his bad shooting cost the nets multiple wins over the season after he ends up shooting probably 50% from 3's over the last meaningless month.
the other important thing is rooting for the raptors to lose as much as possible and at least be passed by western teams in the overall standings.
