Well, looks like there's a good chance that Lonzo Ball goes to the Lakers.
Good to know that his career could effectively be over before he gets a chance to play. The last thing that kid needs is to stay in California and have to be around his dad and have him continue to be the center of attention. Here's to hoping that they have to trade it away to get a veteran.

Jokic is a baller. Like some of their youngins too. Murray will be good and really like Harris. He's a great glue piece in a starting line-up. Nuggets are one boderline all-star talent away from being dangerous.
Lonzo to the Lakers. Wonder if they go for a superstar trade of PG13 or Buckets in the offseason or go through one more rebuilding year and then look to sign a star?

You knew the NBA was not going to let the Lakers fall out of the top 3 and not get ball. Perhaps the team that got it worse was the Magic. With the Lakers finishing in the top 3 it means they will not get a #1 pick in the 2018 draft and get 2nd round picks which for the most part are worthless.

I was super against the deal but a lot of that was seeing my childhood hero and the guy who just won the Celtics a title traded down 95.
But I did say that I wouldnt be surprised if someone got hurt and the picks worked out (post 64)
Also most of my bitching was before the full trade was released (Pick swaps and such) and post 85 I said I was fine.
Still.

The plan looks fairly clear at this point.
Draft and hold Fultz.
Sign Hayward or possilby Blake
Bring Zizic over for next season
It really only gets complicated if someone makes a ridiculous offer for the #1 pick or Hayward or Blake are not interested.
I am sure next year's pick will also be thrown out there for possible trades. Compete now and have some youth for the future. Not too shabby.
cookingwine
05-17-2017, 11:55 AM
Blake wouldn't be worth it at a max contract level. Maybe I am being overly reactionary about it, but I think the Celtics would be better suited to draft Fultz and address the 3 by either signing Hayward or finding a way to trade for Butler.
If the Celtics are able to trade for Butler without having to give up this year's #1 pick, I think it's absolutely worth exploring. Even if they have to potentially give up next year's pick swap with the Nets for the trade to happen, it would be worth it. Trading Smart, that pick, and involving a third team into the mix could be enough to make it work. And if there is a GM that could find a way to make this work, it would be Ainge.

They have to use the max space this offseason really. It will not be there once they have to reup IT. I do not think it affects the trade opportunities with next years pick. Hayward is the preferred and likely option but I would not rule Blake out if that falls through.

You're going to have to release or move a bunch of guys to sign Hayward to a max deal - which he's going to get.
Why do people assume Hayward is signing with the Celtics? I don't get it. Like, it's a possibility, but he's more likely to stay in Utah.

A bunch of scrubs and 1-2 rotation guys, but yes Ainge has work to do to fit in another max player but its not like the Warriors trading 2/5 of their starting line up for KD

I'm not saying it has to be a major overhaul
I'm just saying people keep acting like they can sign a max guy and draft #1 - They can't - It's going to take some work.

Well I think losing depth is the biggest worry here. Kelly O can enjoy Indiana or whoever overpays him, but the depth is what beat Washington and what will combat the Cavs
I love Smart but I think he is the one to go, you cant trade Bradley he IMO is more valuable than IT.
Its gonna be fascinating watching Ainge pull this off because 2018-19 FA is gonna be bananas too.

And i dont see bradley going anywhere thankfully
I only see Bradley moved if it involves someone like Butler. Otherwise it is KO/Rozier/Smart that are most likely out the door.

I suspect Bradley will be the one on the way out. He will be more expensive, is older, more injury prone, and smaller.
