New Michael Jordan 84-85 Star POP 9.5!

Graded on 5/22 with all 9.5 subs! Damn I wonder how much that would go for.

Now there are 3 9.5's.

I'm just wondering if this card was just sitting around or did somebody just buy a bag opened it and got lucky with the submission.

I wonder what the population is for these Jordan Stars. Thousands?

The print run on the 101 is supposed to be in the 3-4,000 range. Star was a very limited release. It could've been a re sub or a new grade but that is a tough grade. Both prior 9.5s had 9 corners. I assume unless it's a hardcore Jordan guy that we will see it for sale soon, maybe it would be at the national. I never thought there would be a grade that high of that card. Will be interesting to see that. They got lucky alright regardless.

I am sure once we see the card it won't look like a 9.5

Good info. I've been thinking about getting some star cards. I think it will never shy away from being a good investment. The fact that it's 84-85 and MJ's first season in the NBA can't be beat.

The last time I checked was many months ago. I checked today because i'm thinking about getting a star card and was just curious about the POP. I noticed the 9.5's had a 3 in it and I was like, wait a second, last time I checked there was 2 now there's a 3. So I just wanted to see what date it Popped and then I noticed the subs, quad 9.5's. I was like man, whoever has that card is probably still partying right now.

That 9 on EBay you got linked doesn't really have the greatest eye appeal with many 8.5s looking better. All relative of course and still s sharp example. I would certainly rather have two of the grade 8.5s and have a few grand to spare. I suspect we could see that new 9.5 for sale soon with the National upcoming.

Last years major spike in prices definitely brought them out of the woodwork. Still extremely rare and tough grade wise 8.5 and above due to corners and centering. Some of the recently graded examples are atrocious with extremely large top borders. Would be very thrilled to see an actual pic of the new 9.5 especially if it's a quad 9.5. Don't know that we will see it anytime soon though.

Yes they can tell. It's not too difficult. I'll try to find you some examples later. Keep in mind when discussing type 2s it's only the 85-86 series 2 sheet of 100 cards.

I got to see the new BGS 9.5 #101 at the National. It was submitted from an individual collector from an unopened bag.it is a beauty alright! And unfortunately not for sale in case anyone was wondering. It was part of a personal collection. It definitely deserved the 9.5 to my eye.

Remember that the centering grade isn't just side-to-side, it's also top-to-bottom. Both things are considered when determining the final centering grade. Just saying....:coffee:

Its so hard to say without comparing side to side. The owner told me that he had submitted for review some 9s hoping for a bump without success and then pulled this fresh one from a bag after close inspection and scored on 1st sub.
