Apologies if this is in the wrong place but does anyone know how long it take for an item that's sent tracked to go beyond the 'pre shipment' in terms of updates. This may be nothing but I paid for something the 14th of June and I've had zero communication from the seller apart from the generated PayPal email you get telling you the item is on way (on the 15th) Now I wouldn't normally be concerned as it's US to UK and in my experience you are looking at 9-14 days give or take (so technically it may arrive next week) but I've had no replies from my seller and my tracking hasn't started. If I'm overreacting I apologise and please delete.

"pre shipment" just means that a label was printed. If it hasn't gone beyond that more than likely it has not been dropped off. Try putting the number in to the USPS website and request text updates. If it has been dropped off that may kick the tracking in to gear. 9 times out of 10 it works for me. Not sure if that system works internationally though.

From what i can see it's just US/Canada thank you anyway. Just got to hope the seller gets in contact ad it could be nothing but I've never had tracking stuck on pre shipment for 2 weeks

If he's not responding then open a case. I can understand being stuck somewhere in movement but if he's not communicating chances are it wasn't dropped off.

Hope I'm wrong but it seems like item wasn't mailed. You can create a label then void it, that looks like what happened here. I'd wait another week then file a claim.
Open a case since tracking is not showing movements and you have no communications from the seller. That will force he/she to respond or you will just get your money back. My office just mailed a letter through registered mail from US to UK. Given it is a letter but it took less than a week and delivered. So I would think 2 weeks with no update is too long.

I have done as nothing has changed since the original post and I've had a package from the us that arrived and cleared customs in 11 days. I wonder how long it will take PayPal to sort it out. Any ideas please?

I would call them to expedite it. I have done it in the past and it was pretty smooth.
Im in a similar situation,but im the seller. I sold the eric dickerson 2016 flawless auto i hit in one of houdinis 2016 flawlesd football $7 playernspot draft box breaks. Printed the label Monday June 26th,stuck it in mailbox after work at 11pm. No mail the next day,so I took it out of m/b put it on my table. Stuck it back out wednesday morning,june 28th mail lady took it. She didnt scan it,theres no updated tracking info. The buyer messaged me,i tracked it,told him id call post office soon as i got a chance. I work crazy hours didnt have time to call them friday on my lunch break,theyvwere closed when i got home friday night at 11:30pm. Sunday morning he sent anasty message and opened a paypal claim. Paypal said im protrcyed under their seller protrction since i did print the label which autogenerated the tracking info. Anyhiw i called post office monday korning,get this,,they have no record of the package even making it to the post office. The mail lady is new and took our normal mail man's toute on 6/28 becauae he was sick. I think she forgot to scan the package and put it in the outgoing mail bag they carry,and might of put it in someone elses mail box by mistake. I shipped it 1st class without insurance,never will i fo that again. Im insuring everything. I believe he is going to win,and rightfully so.If i am right and the mail lady did accidentally give it to someone else on the route,i cant prove it. Im out $70. A $70 lesson for sure. The card is 4/10 eric dickerson legends auto 4/10 in the Colts uniform. I called the buyer Sunday after he filed the claim,he yelled at me for calling him and said"im telling paypal you called me. Who gave you my number anyway"? I said"Sir,you have a LOT of feedback on ebay,i have your contact info,you have mine as well". He was a jerk about it. Wouldnt let me explain anything or try to reason with him. Oh btw,now im getting private calls by the hour,leaving me stupid voicemails,calling me an idiot and other things. I guess I am,for even calling the guy to try and explain,or reason with him. Anyway. Im calling Paypal in morning,to let them know the post office cant find the package and they have no recollection of it reaching the post office. They also said they'd talk to the mail lady to ask if she picked it ip from my mailbox. Im shipping everything priority with insurance from now on,and im taking all packages DIRECTLY TO the post office. Sorry for the long post,guys.
Edit. I just tracked that package again,and it shows that it is at his local post office,been there since 12:51pm,the status is "ready for pickup". I just called PP,had the resolution team track it,they temporary released that negative $70 hold from my PP account balance. I messaged the seller craigscards5544 thru evay and told him its at his post office. Im sure he will call me private again and curse me out for messaging him,LOL. This was a nightmare. For the record,the label was printed June 24th,but didnt ship until June 26th because we had no incoming mail June the 25th. Today,July 5th,the oackage arrived at the dude's post office in Toledo,Ohio. Now,Im worried the dude is going to go to the p/o and have it returned,or refuse it,,Or worse,,,open it,keep it,then say he never got it or something stupid like that. The more I think about it,I wonder if he took advantage of the situation(the usps jot updating the tracking info for days),to get out of buying the card. It wouldnt be hard for him to do at this point. This IS A HUGE headache for me.Anyway,OP,I hope you get your package in the mail by the end of this week. USPS IS WAY underfunded,and slow,Im hoping the best for you. If anyone wants to check on my issue,here is the tracking number. 9400109699939058003923

Sounds like a nightmare that I do hope you get it sorted. My seller hasn't been in contact with me since the message with my total.
The biyer messaged me at 7:44am thru ebay "!!!YOU DONT DO AS YOUR TOLD. YOU WERE TOKD BY ME AND BY EBAY TO STOP CONTACTING ME!!!"
Ebay never told me to not contact him,he opened the claim thru paypal. And of course I contacted the schizo,to let him know the tracking info was updated and his card is ready for him. This guy is a straight tool. Craig Boyles from Toledo,Ohio is the idiot's name. Im honna make a post about this dude. I got a strong feeling this is still not over,i dont put anything past people anymore. I dont understand how people got so crazy and stupid!!!
