Seems odd someone would just say that. Just an inside joke that should have been kept that way.

I think it's just the same if they'd said something like:
"There must be some slave master blood in 'em to be that light skinned"
"It's not any more illegal than a Mexican immigrant"
"That's hotter than a German oven baking Jews"
"He lost so much weight you'd think he was gay with AIDS"
It seems that when certain minorities are ridiculed, it's seen as okay, as with most Asian jokes, but start making others the victims and more people are up in arms.
To me, it's common sense to have filters and think first, with a bit of a though process from the brain to the mouth (spoken) or fingers (typing) and ask the rhetorical question of it the message could be misinterpreted or offend.
It's one thing to be witty, it's another thing to attempt humor in bad taste at another person or group's expense.
Sure, people can whine about everyone having their panties in a bunch and today's PC culture has everyone walking on eggshells, but in truth it's just being socially responsible with sensitivity and consideration for others. That's not a bad thing. Why make others feel uncomfortable?
So, I think that post is indeed in poor taste and a bad attempt at humor.
Finding it funny or non-offensive doesn't make you a racist, it just makes you lack a certain level of humanity, the sensitivity to the feelings of others.

From Wikipedia:
"Rice is the seed of the grass species Oryza sativa (Asian rice) or Oryza glaberrima (African rice). As a cereal grain, it is the most widely consumed staple food for a large part of the world's human population, especially in Asia. It is the agricultural commodity with the third-highest worldwide production (rice, 741.5 million tonnes in 2014), after sugarcane (1.9 billion tonnes) and maize (1.0 billion tonnes).[1]
Oryza sativa with small wind-pollinated flowers
Since sizable portions of sugarcane and maize crops are used for purposes other than human consumption, rice is the most important grain with regard to human nutrition and caloric intake, providing more than one-fifth of the calories consumed worldwide by humans."
"Especially in Asia"??????? Very insensitive of Wikipedia. Just because Asians are the biggest consumer of rice DOES NOT mean they like it. It's the same as someone ignorantly calling me "American Joe" every time I eat a delicious hot-dog, and chase it down with a cool, refreshing Coca-Cola. It's infuriating.
Just to be clear, this is sarcasm.

Agreed. I don't get easily offended, and like to find humor in things, but you are absolutely right that it is tone deaf for a business to tweet that out. It's not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, but there really is no reason or anything to gain from sending out that tweet.

I think those that find a tweet like this one offensive or worth a 5 paragraph response are the reason why we have a non politician as a president. You think you are enlightening people but in fact you are polarizing them against politics and being PC.
Great point. I completely agree!:)!
