So I scored a box of this...It wasn't cheap, but wasn't too bad either...tempted to bust it for a chance at an MJ Total D, but I don't see too many of these boxes out there. The obvious question...Rip or hold!?

I'd try to sell it if you're worried about making a profit. The Jordan Total D is only a $40-50 card in raw condition.

If you want to have some fun then bust it.

yeah. I'd basically need to pull a 9 to clear anything of note. And so many are off-centered. It'd be fun though! I'll probably debate for a week or two then go rip city haha.

Life is too short to keep wax sealed. Especially 92-93 fleer

At least you know when opening it that the cards aren't all going to be bricked together.

This

These are pretty rare sealed

And if a Total D MJ is what you're really after, Id sell the box and pick up a graded one

These are notoriously off centered out of the pack, and thats IF you pull one

I don't just want a graded one, I want to get my own graded one, it's more fun but you're right..it is def a tough pull so I have to think about it:flex:

The Total D cards are 1:5 packs, and there are 24 packs per box, so you should get 4-5 cards. There are 15 in the set. As mentioned, a raw Jordan can be had for around $40-50. That is the only card worth anything in there. Steel City is selling boxes for $249. That's why I said keep it sealed. The odds are not good, and the value of the sealed box should hold. I fully understand the attraction of pulling your own Jordan, though. The 92-93 sets are all hugely nostalgic for me.

i have a friend that has opened a few of these recently, and we both repute the "1:5" odds. the last two boxes each produced one TD

Well there you go....that would be even worse to discover, when you get a single Micheal Williams card.

I remember opening a cr@p ton of those back in the day. My LCS had those packs for .50 and i pulled the Jordan Total D at least 3 times.

I pulled a Jordan Total D, too, the day they came out...and then promptly traded it back to the shop for another pack. Not too sure what I was looking for, maybe some Laker cards?

When the sentence "the only way this makes sense is if I pull a psa10 Jordan insert" comes into play regarding a sealed box, I suggest not opening it.

However, if you're a hobbyist first and the money irrelevant and you enjoy opening this era of wax go for it. Just be prepared that you might receive one horrible ROI.

Sell it gslayton and watch him pull two MJ Total Ds, and, somehow, a red pmg MJ.

When Fleer inserts seed like this, that usually means the next box will have sometimes double the number of inserts as usual. Nobody knows if this is the case, but opening it would be super fun. I built the Total D set many years ago.

I am that friend...lol. I have opened 2 boxes recently and pulled 1 total d per box. Not good odds at all. I would sell.

I have been looking for one of those since 1993. I even created a thread on it a while ago. I saw them ONCE on ebay and I was too late to the show.

In 94 I opened a box of Ultra Series 1 Jumbo, the ones with the all-defensive (which btw I just missed a box of the other day...it went for a mere $55) and I literally got zero insert cards. No all NBA or all rookies or all defensive or karl malones or award winners. It was 100% base cards, so i mailed it back to Fleer lol. I was so disappointed I didn't even want to look at them.

If that bad boy didn't have a Fleer outer wrapper.....you got scammed. Open enough boxes and you figure out typically how many packs are seeded with inserts.....say every 3rd pack. Good chance those packs were Frankenstein'ed together by a sorry ass dealer. Those All Defensive inserts were huge. Plenty of reason to cherry pick them back in the day.

That sucks. If it were factory sealed, then I may have seriously found a guy who's hobby luck is actually worse than mine.

haha..i had mailed away for it from a dealer in Tuff Stuff..I want to say it was Dave + Adam's though so I think legit? I cant remember, i could be making that up but I feel like it was from whoever a major dealer was at the time.

Hard to say my man. Fleee did have some goofy collation. I've seen t where you crack a box.....get 5 Total D inserts, and x4 of them are Dennis Rodman. It would seem astronomical, but the next box has only 1, and it's a common. No matter what.....the hobby gods always make sure it's never Jordan as the insert you double or triple up on in a single break of whatever.

This made me lol pretty hard because it's almost accurate. I mean yeah gslay buys a TON of 90s wax and we probably only see the good hits...but MAN are his hits insane.

Ive bought 3 boxes and have been lucky to find a Jordan Total D in all 3. But one box only had two inserts. So it's a tricky thing. Man oh man do I love this product though. Fell in love with it as a kid and it's probably still my favorite design. Prices are too rich for my blood now. It would be an expensive trip down memory lane at this point.

The Rack Box is the obvious treasure...one sold earlier this year if I'm not mistaken but the real jewel in the crown for this product are the elusive Team Night Sheets. The Jimmy Jackson from the Dallas sheet might be the ultimate of white whales for me.

I got a jumbo pack box of Fleer 92 baseball (on discount from the "Vintage" rack they used to have at Target) to get some Team Leaders inserts. I got some all right, about 15 or so as I recall. The problem was that every single one was Jose Canseco.
