Lakers have reached out to Season Ticket Holders to inform them that they need to hold on to their tickets v the Warriors on Dec 18 as there will be a "special celebration "

Could this be the jersey(s) being retired? What will they raise - 8, 24, or both?

Let's hope it's not anything to do with a Ball lol.

They should do it on a lesser game because the Warriors will draw regardless.

I hardly think that this will be part of the consideration.

Yea, this is actually my first year as a STH and got the email a couple of days ago. They said more details to come in the following weeks.

I honestly didn't even think of Kobe as a possibility, but that would be sweet.

Looks like the Kobe jersey(s) retirement might be the case:

Gonna try to be there, but ticket prices just skyrocketed!

So how until we hear a story about someone who bought the tickets cheap and then had them taken back now that they are more valuable?

Both numbers. I guess that's kinda cool. Has that happened before?

I stopped being a Kobe fan after he pushed Shaq out of LA, but he deserves to have both numbers retired for what he did during and post the Shaq era. Respect

I'd argue that Kobe didn't push Shaq out of LA. Shaq wanted a truckload of money in back pay for delivering 3 Championships to LA. Dr Buss thought the smarter business decision would be to let Shaq go and build around a younger more motivated star. A difficult choice, but the correct one.

I don't care about the Lakers. I actually like watching Kobe play.

Retiring 2 numbers is so dumb. Just pick one.

I wonder how much the tickets will rise as the season approaches, and it gets closer to that game. I wouldn't mind going; I doubt there will ever be another athlete to have two numbers retired for one team.
