View Full Version : Is there anyway to tell who bought a card on COMC?

Doesn't appear there is, but maybe you guys know more about the site than I do. I noticed there are TONS of great cards that I would like to add to my collection that have sold out and would like to attempt to contact a few people that have purchased them but can't seem to find a screen name. Any help?

Some of the sold out cards weren't actually for sale on comc in the first place. When people would send cards to their comc mailbox, they would be processed under sold out.

I know this because I've sent a bunch of my PC there and they are listed as sold out, even though I never put them up for sale.

How do you find out it was sold out? Is there a completed listing page similar to eBay.

Buyer shows up in your personal sales history. So you could ask the seller to check who bought the card. But... how would you even contact someone on COMC? I don't think there is a message system in place... or is there?

Search what you're after then on the left hand side scroll down to 'Sold Out' and choose 'Only Sold Out'.

Wow where is the privacy! Is there any way this could be turned off and hidden from public view for cards which get uploaded into comc?

It doesn't show who owns any of the SOLD OUT cards. Just that they were uploaded to the site.

Your right there's no messenger service so even if you knew who had the cards you want you can't contact them. Comc should fix this as I believe it hurts their bussiness. Many times I've seen cards I want to make an offer on but I only do if I already have the store credit. You can't even make an offer without committing that money to the comc site

Can't that money be refunded within a certain time if your offer is declined?

I completely agree with this, and the interesting thing is, COMC has nothing to lose by coming up with a way of to let members get in contact with each other or send messages. Sure, I suppose it would require some bigger/better servers and infrastructure, but the payoff could be well worth it for them, and it's not like they would be potentially losing out on sales the way that eBay could lose out if two parties agree to work offline.

I wonder what kind of increased traffic flow COMC would experience if word got out that members could reach out and contact each other with messages instead of merely $ offers that land within a pre-specified tolerance by a seller???

Thing as a seller is I don't want to be annoyed with loads of lowball offers and people backing out as they do on message boards often. There is nothing more frustrating then hammering out a deal for hours just to have the other party back out. On COMC if someone makes an offer all I have to do is click a button and the money is mine. If I make a deal on here I have to message back and forth and it takes a lot more time and effort. If your offer does not fall within my accepted offer range of 60% I am not going to go lower anyways. It is a little frustrating not to be able to contact, however 95% of the time we would be wasting our time anyways.

Also if we could message each other on COMC it would direct a ton of sales to private deals to avoid the 20% cash out fee. That would be very bad for COMCs bottom line.

You make a good point, and I can certainly understand not wanting to deal with unfiltered and unfettered access to you, from loons that have nothing better to do all day than send over repeated low-ball offers, and/or not respond once there is framework for a deal supposedly and finally in place. However, I think this could be alleviated with the ability to block messages from specific members. This way, you could approach it like our justice system - innocent until proven guilty - but then decide to block people that either flake out on something or pester repeatedly with lowball offers. Additionally and if COMC didn't provide the functionality to block specific members, you could just see the message is from "one of those" and delete without reading it. There wouldn't be a rule that would require you to respond to all messages, haha!

100% agree. What i love about COMC is that i don't have to deal with the back and forth - especially on lower value cards. My discounts are preloaded and there's really nothing to negotiate anyways.

Spot on. Every once in a while it'd be nice to send a message, but I'm glad that feature doesn't exist for the other 95% of the time
