I sold a card (> $100) on ebay. card shipped with tracking + 3rd party insurance. Buyer is from Singapore but he uses his friend's address (not warehouse).

Today I checked my tracking and it says:

Unable to deliver item, problem with address

USPS was unable to deliver your item as of 7:43 pm on October 10, 2017 in MOUNT LAUREL, NJ 08054. The address may be incorrect, incomplete, or illegible.

on ebay page it says the package is delivered though

I looked up the address using google map and it looks legit, what should I do?

Contact the buyer for starters...

Then ebay and ask them...

Doubtful anyone here will be able to give you better advice that will produce an outcome.

*I do hope the address he uses was confirmed via paypal/ebay, otherwise you were scammed likely because they can claim item not received then since you didnt send to correct address on file.

I did more research on the address he provided, yes it is a confirmed address but it is a condo. The buyer did not provide the unit number that's why the tracking says it is undeliverable.

I have no problem to send the card back to the seller but if USPS didn't return the package back to me, will I be responsible because buyer made a mistake?

A. Did the buyer message you yet?
B. If your tracking is green check marked by ebay as delivered and the buyer has not messaged you or a blindside claim then you may not have an issue at all.

I had this happen with a card I sold to Australia. I was able to prove that the card was shipped and that a delivery attempt was made. It was left in the hands of the buyer to then retrieve it from FedEx. I was able to track it to the FedEx warehouse at the airport. The buyer simply had to go and retrieve it. I provided all this information to the buyer, but they never retrieved it and eventually filed a case with eBay. EBay backed me and completed the sale.

In retrospect I always wondered if it was a scam the buyer had. Have an address that is confirmed but for whatever reason can't accept packages(no where to leave a package, locked condo complex, etc). Then when the package comes up as undelivered file a claim, get the money back then retrieve the package.

contacted the buyer, but he is uncooperative. He told me that it's his US address (even though he uses His Name c/o someone else's name in the address)

When I asked him to contact his local postal office, he's like "why do I need to do that".

He still hasn't filed any claim but I don't get my hopes up. He is a blowout member but his last activity was 2014. My 3rd party insurance requires affidavit from buyer, I doubt he will sign it :(

Ugh, sounds lousy indeed, but I'm optimistic that the combination of your communication attempts (what and how) with the use of the "confirmed" address should put the decision in your favor if and when push comes to shove.

Thanks for sharing this potential problem scenario with us, and I look forward to hopefully hearing about a favorable resolution for you!

Glad to hear there was a well-deserved and happy ending! Did your call trigger the delivery, or was it just happenstance?

Well either way, the end result is what mattered! Strange things happen with mail delivery sometimes, and usually those things work themselves out with time. I'd hate to just rest on this assumption though myself, so I understand wanting to take action sooner rather than later to hopefully improve odds of a favorable outcome. I'm very glad it all worked out.
