It was tough footage. Not as gruesome as aware or even PG13 IMO but the sound was picked up by mic and the cameras zoomed in on the dislocated ankle/leg as he was down and showed too much. They did an overhead replay and you don’t see the break like you did the other two. Hayward falls back as his foot rolls under him.

The C's need to do some serious regrouping. As a fan of the C's I'm in shock, imagine how the players feel. The season is not lost. The kids are going to have to grow up in a hurry.
As an aside he got hurt early so he will have a long time to heal and recover. Sorta like when Brady got hurt in his first game in 08. Even if he has to sit out the first two-three months next season he should be back. PG13 came back and I never thought he'd play at a high level again. But what do I know, I'm not a doctor.
I was really looking forward to the battles with Cleveland and Washington with the new Big 3.

That sort of extreme structural bone damage lower in the leg or ankle area is typically accompanied by ligament and tendon damage. I would venture to say his Achilles is torn, or possibly severed. That was absoluteley gruesome and I hope not to see it again. This will be a very difficult injury to ever "fully" recover from, particularly psychologically for Hayward. His game really leans on a certain aggressive style of play, and that might change. Hopefully Stevens and the Celtics are patient and with him thru the long haul of rehab and whatnot. Horrific.

I just wanted to make the joke that he's a Chihuahua because how funny would it be if he was really a Chihuahua that could type and use a computer?
Also, as an aside, if it was Clay Bennett instead of Gordon Hayward I'd be breaking out party favors. Feel free to judge me on that one.

more info about fractured ankle:
A broken ankle is also known as an ankle "fracture." This means that one or more of the bones that make up the ankle joint are broken.
A fractured ankle can range from a simple break in one bone, which may not stop you from walking, to several fractures, which forces your ankle out of place and may require that you not put weight on it for a few months.
Simply put, the more bones that are broken, the more unstable the ankle becomes. There may be ligaments damaged as well. The ligaments of the ankle hold the ankle bones and joint in position.
Broken ankles affect people of all ages. During the past 30 to 40 years, doctors have noted an increase in the number and severity of broken ankles, due in part to an active, older population of "baby boomers.

I mean I get how everyone has to become some keyboard warrior for some multi millionaire who suffered an injury that obviously looked bad but isn’t really affecting his health or leaving him crippled. If people only got this angered over things that really matter.

Really awful. Specially on a new team and 6 minutes into the season.
Now, am I the only one that thought the way the shoe ended up made it seem worse? I immediately turned my attention towards the shoe and thought Broken Leg (based on the angle). After multiple replays, it looks like the shoe was loose and the leg was not turned in the direction, it looked like something with the ankle.
Also, I don't think the season is lost. If that's the ankle, as some people has mentioned,
Gordon should be back by April. Not great but at least he'll be able to play.

ill be anxious to hear more updated medical info that can say more firmly how long he's estimated to be out for. i cant fathom he would be back this season, 6 months from now is middle of may though, maybe he could be back for the east finals, i would not even risk that though. just hopefully hes back completely nba healthy by the start of next season.
i would be so disappointed if i was a huge boston fan, and i would just have liked to seen the whole team play for the year and see how it went. i think they will still be a great team within a month though, this will give tatum and brown more minutes and they both look like they could be good players this season and have a lot of upside, especially if brown can learn to shoot.
i dont remember this ever happening in the nba and now pg had it happen like 2.5 years ago and now hayward, hopefully it goes back to being even more incredibly rare.
