Giannis is very close to his brothers thanisis and alex and i think it has to do with giannis saying a few years ago that 2019 will be the year of the "antetokounBROS" as he likes to put it. with thanisis already in the nba at the time he expected thanisis to still be in the nba along with himself and 2019 is when alex would be old enough to be drafted. this is the only conclusion i could come up with. could be completely wrong but i have no other idea why.

Thats not entirely correct. Alex is actually a sophomore in High school right now in Wisconsin. So he will graduate in 2020. So earliest would be 2021 for him. Kostas will be sophomore(I believe because of the eligibilty issue last year) at Dayton this year. So he would be eligible for this years draft(Was actually eligible for last years)

So long story short, not sure what the 2019 inscription is

but at the time couldnt you get drafted from overseas at 18? cause he would be 18 in 2019.at the time he would have signed this card i dont think he envisioned him going to school in the states and what not. but seems like a stretch to me as well i was just giving my best guess cause any other reason h would have did this makes no sense at all lol. unless its fake but why do that to this card and put that? also the zeros look like his writing.

Possible, but why would someone fake an inscription that no one else understands? Theoretically, if someone was going to fake an inscription they would write something that's easily understandable to others. "Go Bucks" or something like that I could see possibly being faked, but this inscription is a mystery (as evidenced by this thread).

This is the first time I've ever seen this on any of his cards... im now curious

My brother posed the theory that he could have been attempting to write a '4' instead of the 9...

Considering the same card with different serial number doesn't have the inscription (#ed 6/15, inscription one is #ed 7/15), my guess is that the inscription one is fake.

To add one more thing, the same seller is selling a questionable Curry patch too...

What makes you say that the Curry is questionable? The insert set is Immaculate Insignias and features unique patches such as logos.

Well the Giannis auto is very questionable b/c of the inscription. Most of the insignias patches are team logos, but also adidas and nike patches. I suppose Gatorade patch is possible, but it's questionable. Questionable, not definitely fake.

The seller shows pictures from when it was pulled from a Layton Sports Card break so it's not a fake inscription. I'm guessing that's the reason why he has those pictures on the listing.

Next FIBA World Basketbal Cup is in Athens in 2019.

Article says...

He's (Giannis) also supremely confident in his and his Greece teammates' potential to become an elite side again, so much so that Antetokounmpo has declared that one day he'll lead his country to victory over the USA, a side that hasn't lost since the Greeks beat them 11 years ago.

"I'll be the next one to beat them," he vowed. "I'll be waiting for them somewhere."

Oh I see what you're thinking with the Gatorade. But I think this is from an earlier Warriors jersey when they had the lightning motif. May be from the neck on the back.

This should pretty much prove its real.

The 03/15 is on Facebook and also doesn't have the inscription. Weird that he would do it for one particular card out of a set of 15

Maybe he thought that was the current year

In that case I was actually wrong about it being fake, but I'm actually glad it's real. Just weird that the #6/15 has no inscription, but the #7/15 has an inscription. I guess that's what makes it special.

Here's an example...

So...a photoshoot jersey, when the back clearly states "Game-worn"

The image I posted was a Mitchell & Ness "throwback", not the actual authentic jersey that they wore his first year in the NBA. I was just posting that because it was the first example I saw that showed the back of the jersey clearly.

This is probably a very ignorant question but are you sure it says 2019? He has horrible handwriting. Could it be some sort of initials, or even any Greek letters?

It probably is 2019 because of Eurobasket in Athens. Weird inscription. "Greek Freak" would have been awesome.
