I hope so. I imagine he stays sober throughout the rest of his football career, but could see him relapsing once it's over.

hmmm do I believe Josh Gordon. Someone who has consistently lied to his coaches and management and press media. Hmmm....
I think we will know sooner than later if he is sober
You may as well ask if Johnny Manziel is sober

Don't know, don't care. Still trying to figure out why so many people care about a guy who hasn't played in 3 years.

True but I also believe that once something is taken from you, sometimes you realize how much you miss it and do what it takes to get it back.
Side note ..Most addicts who have had an epiphany or gotten help are EXTREMELY honest .. I wonder how NFL teams and people are viewing Josh's very public truth about what he was doing at Baylor/NFL?

Hold up.. read some tidbits on more of the high school/ college stuff and WTH man?! Dude was playing real life grand theft auto? Geezus
"Every weekend, he says, a fight would break out and there’d be a flurry of bullets; he caught one in the left arm during his junior year. Gordon says he never “maliciously” shot anyone, but he often had to shoot “to get out, to cause some type of hesitation—a pause so you could keep moving.” He says he sold drugs, mostly weed and mostly at school, “to feed myself.” But the majority of his income came from counterfeit money. The gang would spend $100 to get $2,000 in fake currency, Gordon says, then he would go to McDonald’s and buy five $1 cheeseburgers with a large bill in order to get the legit change.
Gordon would steal cars “almost every day,” he says, because “we just needed a ride.” He would either shatter a vehicle’s window or manipulate the locking mechanism, and his partner would do the hot-wiring. He also worked on a three-man crew that broke into homes—always empty, he says, but he was often carrying a gun—to steal electronics. “Whenever [the gang] could use you, exploit you on anything that puts you in danger of going to prison,” he says, “[I’d] be the guy.”
Gordon says he smoked marijuana every day at Lamar and drank vodka from Minute Maid bottles during class. His junior year he started drinking codeine syrup mixed with soda—or “lean”—every night. Whenever someone offered, he’d pop Xanax, hydrocodone, oxycodone. Before football games he’d chug Mad Dog 20-20 straight out of the bottle just to see if he could play drunk. He was arrested for felony credit card theft five days after his 17th birthday and, no longer a minor, spent 35 days locked up. “You get shot, you go to jail,” Gordon says. “These are progressions in this lifestyle.”

Ya, I had to edit my original post when one small article only spoke about the selling weed portion.. dude wasn't a low/mid level weed dealer, he was a straight up gangster..
High, drunk, on bars, lean while balling out in games? Now I realize why I was only an avg/above avg player.. apparently youre supposed to get F'd up BEFORE/During games and not afterwards.. while also possibly shooting some rounds off, stealing a car or 2 then head to McDonald's for 5 double cheeseburgers paying using counterfeit $$

Honestly if he cared he would've already stopped. I'm not saying it's an easy thing but it's been done. I have so much respect for Tyrann Mathieu because he was on the same path as Gordon but he woke up and realized it wasn't worth it. Now he's the highest paid safety and who knows if josh Gordon was to say sober he could've been the highest paid WR.

Bill Belichick is the John Tunstall (Young Guns) of football. He can take young guys and turn them around. Josh needs to come to the Patriots. I think that's the best thing for him.

I hope he lapses by midnight tonight......... reading that little tidbit makes me hope nothing positive ever happens for Josh Gordon ever again. A lot of good people never get a big break type opportunity in life. They still act like decent people and make the best of what they have. This guy is a life long criminal who pissed away millions of dollars to cap it off. Nobody deserves a 16th,17th,18th chance. The whole thing is such a joke
*** edited to reflect nothing positive in NFL spectrum, that is what the OP thread is about........ of course I wouldn't suggest someone just give up on life, but as for the NFL. It should not be an option

Why wouldn't you want to see him do well? After volunteering with inner city kids I've gained some perspective. It's hard to break free from a certain lifestyle when it's all you know. Clearly Josh came from a broken home and formed an addiction at a young age.
Would you want him to revert back to being a criminal or get his life in order and become a cautionary tale; someone who can help guide others away from the path he once followed?
I'm rooting for him.

a few rights don't correct criminal act after criminal act...... different types of acts, over and over again
I am rooting for people who don't blatantly do bad things to catch a break in life... I am rooting for good people to catch that once in a lifetime job offer; I am rooting for an inner city kid getting a scholarship so they don't have to live around the projects forever
I am not rooting for a lifetime criminal to "turn things around" and make millions of dollars. Am I rooting for Josh Gordon being a high school coach and making a difference in kids lives by explaining how he was able to fix his life? HELLYEA..... Am I rooting for him to make one cent in the NFL, absolutely not. It's an opinion. You posted yours, I posted mine

What's sad on here are the sheep who have no opinion other than what people should "want them to have"
no, he shouldn't give up.... no, I don't wish he ends up in prison
I do wish he never be afforded the opportunity to make millions of dollars in the NFL after mistake, mistake, mistake... over and over again
Working with kids is great, hopefully he can stay on a positive path..... but that path in my opinion should be as a teacher, speaker, etc. I do not think the amount of wrongs in this case should ever warrant another chance to be a multi millionaire in the NFL. If he wants to be an entrepreneur and do something to get huge that is great. A mistake is a mistake... a lifetime of mistakes should be penalized to some degree no matter the reconciliation. That is my opinion, you are welcome to yours

Enlighten us all on what he did criminally? And don't say smoking pot is criminal, its legal in a lot of states, including some that these players play in. Drugs are a complex issue that many people struggle with. I have a brother who struggled with heroin for some time but has clean for over 2 years, does that make him a criminal? You wouldn't know because surely you live in this perfect world were everything is perfect. I know, and I'm sure many users here know, someone who smokes pot, are they criminals? To call Flash a criminal and hope he doesn't do anything positive speaks true words of who you are, clearly uneducated of addiction and how it can your life over. How bout truly understanding someone's struggles before wishing them no good.

I think he is speaking of his youth when he sold pot and got into gun fights. Never was he caught, but they are still criminal activities. What he hasn't considered is that besides his addiction and a DWI, he hasn't engaged in any other known criminal activity since he was drafted. He is unfortunately ruling Josh Gordon out because of the mistakes he made as a kid.

You're leaving out armed robbery, stealing cars, an other gang activity.
Josh Gordon is not some innocent kid who just happened to get caught smoking a little weed. More like a lower level Sam Hurd that is lucky to not be in jail.

Well, Gordon's on chance 5 or so right now.
Could he have changed his ways? Sure. But there's no way of knowing. If he's going to be defended on here, I'd say it's pretty important to not gloss over some of the horrible stuff he's done.. none of which have to do with weed.

It's kinda ironic. If Josh Gordon was just some guy, and doing some of the things he's done.. as a Blowout member instead of a freak pro athlete, he'd be undeniably shunned. Faking cards and selling them instead of faking bills and using them, ripping people off for their cards instead of stealing credit cards, or stealing that bubble mailer with that $1500 card you've been yearning for in it out of your mailbox instead of robbing homes.. there wouldn't be sympathy.

Hoping a dude relapses "by midnight" is pretty harsh. I mean, this is the internet. Do you want to be known as an anonymous douche-bag wishing ill on people or as a decent person who maintains a level of hope for every person? Some here have made their choice and cast their die.

Agreed, that's harsh. If that's the person you're talking about, then quote them or mention them by name in your post.
But I know damn well that if some of the stuff that Josh is done was done to you or someone that you love, you wouldn't be defending him.

thank you for reading the article in which he said this was the type of stuff he did..... which are all criminal acts in 50 states
it is what it is..... if people want to reward this stuff with 11 thousand second chances that is their right... I for one wouldn't afford someone with that history another chance to be a NFL athlete. But as I said, many other jobs are available and being a better person and changing should be the ultimate goal for him. Josh Gordon being afforded another chance to play is NO fault of his own..... that falls squarely on the shoulders of the people giving him that opportunity in the NFL

i don't think he should ever have another chance to play a multi million dollar kids game for a living after making so many mistakes. So yes, I would hope he fails another pot test and is permanently banned from the NFL.
I do hope he is afforded an opportunity to teach kids, be a speaker if he can keep clean, coach camps..... whatever he wants to do while being on the right path.
You fail to see the difference... I feel playing a game for the money players get is a PRIVILEGE in which second chances should be very rare and third chances non existent. That is the bottom line for me. If that opinion makes me a douche bag to you... well then I feel you are a douche bag for your opinion. It's just an opinion. I feel he should need to clean up in a normal environment; in an occupation that is not the NFL. Go make millions doing something else, that's great
I am not saying he should crawl up and give up on life.... Not playing football is not the end of the world... and in my mind he has forfeited that right if the decision was mine forever. feel free to disagree
