Yep, a flip quest! A fun to track, exciting to watch, seems impossible, flip quest.

Goal: To earn enough money to buy a case that is around $500. Yes, I'm aware I'm going from nothing, to something, to probably nothing again, but it will be my first ever case, and it's a dream of mine.

How: I'm starting with a few cards I don't mind parting with, and hoping to sell them on ebay, or here. I also will have $20 cash to start with. I'm hoping to take money I earn, find a nice deal, flip it, and just keep working up the ladder to the case.

What I have now:
5-6 cards. I'm picking them out, and listing them on my ebay account. The money I have I prefer to spend here, but I'm open to buying on ebay.

$20

And.... we're off!

You could offer a player-break raffle for each BO member who helps you out along the way. As in, every member who helped you flip a card gets 2 random player spots in the case break.

Could be fun and could help speed the quest.

Very nice, good luck.

You have the first cards picked out? Would be so awesome (impossible haha) to start with an early 1990s wax and end with a high end case of NT or Immaculate. Maybe I'll try that when you're done!

It can be done.

This reminds me about the story of the red paper clip.

MacDonald made his first trade, a red paper clip for a fish-shaped pen, on July 14, 2005. He reached his goal of trading up to a house with the fourteenth transaction, trading a movie role for a house. This is the list of all transactions MacDonald made:[2]

On July 14, 2005, he went to Vancouver and traded the paperclip for a fish-shaped pen.
He then traded the pen the same day for a hand-sculpted doorknob from Seattle, Washington.
On July 25, 2005, he travelled to Amherst, Massachusetts, with a friend to trade the doorknob for a Coleman camp stove (with fuel).
On September 24, 2005, he went to California, and traded the camp stove for a Honda generator.
On November 16, 2005, he made a second (and successful) attempt (after having the generator confiscated by the New York City Fire Department) in Maspeth, Queens, to trade the generator for an "instant party": an empty keg, an IOU for filling the keg with the beer of the bearer's choice, and a neon Budweiser sign.

Kyle MacDonald's house
On December 8, 2005, he traded the "instant party" to Quebec comedian and radio personality Michel Barrette for one Ski-Doo snowmobile.
Within a week of that, he traded the snowmobile for a two-person trip to Yahk, British Columbia, scheduled for February 2006.
On or about January 7, 2006, he traded the second spot on the Yahk trip for a box truck.
On or about February 22, 2006, he traded the box truck for a recording contract with Metalworks in Mississauga, Ontario.
On or about April 11, 2006, he traded the recording contract to Jody Gnant for a year's rent in Phoenix, Arizona.
On or about April 26, 2006, he traded the one year's rent in Phoenix, Arizona, for one afternoon with Alice Cooper.
On or about May 26, 2006, he traded the one afternoon with Alice Cooper for a KISS motorized snow globe.
On or about June 2, 2006, he traded the KISS motorized snow globe to Corbin Bernsen for a role in the film Donna on Demand.[3]
On or about July 5, 2006, he traded the movie role for a two-story farmhouse in Kipling, Saskatchewan.

Good Luck!

While that is a great idea, I just don't think it would work. I need so many flips, that it would basically mean giving away the whole case. I'm not against doing something like that for select members, I just can't afford to do it for everyone.

Very nice, good luck.

I have a few cards, and $20. That is a sweet idea, maybe it can be the next one.

Yep! I don't think I can do that extent, but I that was an awesome flip!

Update 12/3: I received an offer for $7.00 for my Ameer Abdullah Contenders Auto/99. I'm not going to accept that, as it is way to low for my liking.

Maybe it's me, but a flip quest involving EBay and monetary transactions is more of a buy and sell than a flip quest? A flip quest is what "Rogergodahell" had mentioned. I am still rooting for you. I like how you are risking spending the time and energy to put the resources back into the hobby. Hope you are able to crack a case filled with cards you collect. Good luck.

I'm going to be using BO for trading, I'm just using ebay as another resource for selling. I will have some cards for sale on BO for this quest. Thanks for the support!

I bought this lot for $80 as a start. A slight change to the rules, but I decided I would start with this, and nothing else. I'll try to make a profit off of this, and hopefully have a few cards left over for later B/S/T or my PC.

After buying the lot, I sold off the Stafford/5 for $32. I now have all of that lot (minus the Stafford), as well as $32. Have to keep working up!

Good start there. Don't forget to figure in shipping/fees while you're keeping track!

The Stafford was on here to avoid fees, so after shipping, I'll be at $29.
