Exact same reason Aaron Rodgers and Steve Young had to wait. Legends in front of them. This is a little different situation now with Jimmy because he's taking over a crap team. Rodgers and Young took over already elite teams.


The highest career passer rating ever achieved by an N.F.L. quarterback with 90 or more attempts belongs to Jimmy Garoppolo. His brief but stirring mop-up performance against the Seattle Seahawks (2 of 2 passing, 18 yards, 1 touchdown) last weekend raised his career mark to 110.1.

Small sample size? Sure. But it’s all we have to go on at the moment. Even 49ers General Manager John Lynch and Coach Kyle Shanahan have much to learn about Garoppolo, who has more nicknames (Jimmy GQ, Prince Aladdin, the Great Garoppolo, to name a few) than N.F.L. regular-season starts (two). I don't think it really matters. If anything, the premium on Patriots face logo patches on NT'S should take a hit

The 49ers as a team aren't very good right now. But he did good with what he had to work with. Lots of penalties once again but they overcame them. You're right the Texans aren't very good but neither are the 49ers. They're certainly much better now with him then they were without him. You start winning, you get other players on the team to buy in and believe.

This year is lost but it gives them hope for next year and they can add pieces accordingly. Right now they've got the most important piece, and that's something to feel really good about if you're a 49er fan.

They've got a lot of the pieces in place, so if they can get a top-notch offensive lineman and a good cover corner through the draft/free agency they could be a Wild Card team next year given that they'll have a fairly easy schedule (AFC West, NFC North, NY Giants, at Tampa Bay).

The 49ers have more salary cap space then any other team next year, 117,000,000. So it’s safe to say they can pick up some nice FA’s. I’m not sure who will be available. They’re slipping in draft position from what looked to be the #2 pick, but they’ll probably end up somewhere between 5-10 if they win a couple more games.

I mean yeah it would be nice to have a Julio Jones or Antonio Brown who wouldn't want a guy like that on their team? I think that's more of a luxury though. If there was a sure fire guy in draft of that caliber i would say go for it. I think they've got bigger needs then wr though. Garcon is a 1000 yard reciever, Goodwin has 300 yards receiving in his last 3 games, he's looking very good lately. And Jimmy made Taylor look like Wes Welker. I don't think wr is an immediate concern.

lol, I was kind of in the same boat with both of my FFB teams. RB's getting hurt killed me. Especially since I picked Cook. I also picked Blount up expecting him to be huge in Philly like he was in NE. :doh: I tanked on 1 team like the 2008 Lions and ended up getting put out the 1st round like all the Lions playoff teams:D :(

that's an obvious statement........... but to judge his performance this season off the jags and rams is laughable.... they are both division winners and SF has the talent of a 1-15 team

he has won 3 games in a row against other nfl teams with this roster..... the titans are the only "good" team of the bunch but elevate the level of play for your team... he has done that in 3 games

so for people to have a positive outlook, i can understand why. i also understand that some guys get figured out, some guys aren't good enough, some fold under pressure.

he is playing with house money right now, losing team and either way nothing will be blamed on him if they lose.... he has done well in this situation. last year he took the keys to the ferrari and won ne's first two games. he took a talented team and won. he did all he could in that situation.

I think Belichick traded Jimmy to the 49ers as a kind of gift to him. He was a great teammate here in NE. He really helped the defense prepare a lot for some big games. I remember Belichick praising him quite a bit by helping prepare the team by mimicking the way other quarterbacks played. I think BB knew he would be in good hands with Kyle Shanahan. I wish I didn't sell my NT RPA. I let it go for what I believe is one of the highest recorded raw prices so far, but I just know it's going to be double that during the offseason. The only reason I decided to sell now is the minuscule chance the 49ers can't work out a deal with him and he ends up on the Browns or some other garbage team.I sold two NT RPAs for $145ea a week ago. I think those are the highest at this point. Only got a booklet and Museum /50 remaining.

While I never stopped believing in Jimmy, I unfortunately lost patience and sold off 95% of my collection to fund other purchases over the last year. :(

However, I do have one card of his left, and it just so happens to be the best Jimmy card I ever owned. It's a monster and was the cornerstone of my Jimmy collection. I thank the good lord that I at least still have that one left! :)!

Hold them for now imo I grabbed a few already mostly contenders but unless he wins a actual SB himself and not for being on the bench he will just be hype, also have to remember he is in the Pats uniform in all his best cards that actually will affect his card prices due to the fact diehard 49ers collectors won't be that into his cards imo I maybe wrong but lets say for instance Brett Favre Im pretty sure his Packers cards sell for more then his Vikings cards or even Joe Montana his 49ers cards/autos sell for more then his KC stuff.

Do you not remember the insane prices A-Rod rookie cards reached pre-scandal around 2006/2007? They were in Seattle uniform.

Or how about Barry Bonds rookies in a Pirates uniform going insane while he was with the Giants? I know there are countless other examples as well...

Bottom line, if a player is performing well enough, his rookie cards will be in extremely high demand, regardless of uniform.

Yes, being in their current teams uniform on their rookie card will help, but I really don't think it has a negative effect as long as the player is performing well.
