I know there have been a couple of threads here in the past about Mounted Memories, but with the Tom Brady craze going on right now, I feel it's a good time to bring this up again.

I have always heard that MM is a legit company, and that their autographs are legit.

BUT....I've noticed that a lot of their stuff is:

A- cheaper than PSA/DNA, JSA, Steiner, and Tristar

B- A lot of their COAs don't have matching serial #'s while other stuff of theirs does.

Case in point...

Steve Young autographed helmet (https://www.ebay.com/itm/STEVE-YOUNG-Signed-San-Francisco-49ers-Proline-Helmet-MOUNTED-MEMORIES-PLYR-HOLO/253393767447?hash=item3aff720c17:g:73gAAOSwSKtabJ8V)

Here, it's got all the authentication to verify it's a legit autograph.

But then we have this...

Tom Brady mini helmet (https://www.ebay.com/itm/TOM-BRADY-AUTOGRAPHED-NEW-ENGLAND-PATRIOTS-MINI-HELMET-MM-COA-MINT-CONDITION/391971795472?hash=item5b4356f210:g:zSwAAOSwXzNab9w0)

And I've seen a BUNCH of stuff not just of Brady, but other players from MM that don't have matching COA #'s, but they do have stickers and the COA with them.

My question...what do you all think of MM? Legit, fake, ok, or be wary?

If I have to be concerned with the legitimacy of an autograph then it's not worth my money. If I bought anything from MM, that thought would ALWAYS be at the back of my mind.

yeah that's my thing.

I've always heard they were legit and now I believe they are owned by Fanatics.

However, for whatever reason, maybe it was the times, but some of their autograph don't include matching Serial #'s with their COAs.

They'll have an autograph with a COA that only says "Blah Blah autographed mini helmet" or whatever.

don't know what to make of it.

You can keep making threads about Mounted Memories but if you really want a legit Brady that you won't question every time you see it, then just pay extra for a Tristar one.

I have a Tristar auto, and a PSA auto too. I'm asking in general about MM, not just about Brady, but them overall.

There's a lot of good info about them here

Since this topic keeps popping up, I should save a reply and just cut and paste it in each thread.

Mounted Memories is legit. They did a ton of signings, had exclusives with major teams for game used items and were big enough that they eventually got bought out by fanatics.

Here is the problem now. A ton of their stuff came with a COA card, which had a hologram. And a hologram on the actual item that matched what the COA card said. IE Tom Brady signed full size helmet.

But the majority of their stuff had just that, and no matching serial numbers. So the common scam was to buy a legit cheap 8X10 of anyone random and remove that MM hologram and slap it on a fake helmet. The listing would say they lost the COA card, but the holo is still on the item.

So fakes got past off very easily.

Add in the fact that once fanatics took over, a lot of blank MM stickers and cards were "lost" and are now being used to fake a bunch of high end things.

I used a Brady helmet as an example above, but the same can be said for Derek Jeter, Muhammad Ali or any other high end athlete that has ever done a signing with MM.

Most collectors know all of this. And that is why the old MM hologram stuff just doesn't bring the money it should. If you find an item that does have serial numbers, you can plug that in on the old website, that Fanatics still runs for this very reason, and know you are good. Anything else is caveat emptor

thanks for the info, now the question is....

those items that had matching COA holograms WITHOUT the serial#, are those legit or fake?
