Hi all,
My name's Gavin. I've been a cardblogger for a few years (Baseball Card Breakdown (https://baseballcardbreakdown.blogspot.com/)), and am now trying to branch out a little into other places such as these lovely forums.
I'm originally from the San Diego area (and as such, I'm cursed to be a Padres fan for all of my days), though I currently live in Portland, OR.
I collect a lot of different stuff, such as..
- "Christmas Cards" - any card serial #'d 12/25 or 12/24.
- guys also named Gavin
- athletes who went to my high school, Granite Hills (Brian Giles, Jimmie Johnson, and more obscure guys)
- lots of player collections, including Nate Colbert, Dick Allen, Rod Beck, Ken Caminiti, Bip Roberts, Bill Madlock, and Tony Gwynn to name a few of my favorites.
- Set collecting. In recent years, I've completed 1973, 1971, & 1965 Topps (my top 3 favorite sets), plus some 80s sets. Currently working on 1957 and 1964 Topps, plus '84 and '85 Donruss.
- My biggest endeavor is 2004 Topps Retired Signature Edition - I've completed the autograph set (base & refractor mix) and am now trying for a 100% refractor auto set; 17 cards to go.
A specialty of mine is making custom cards. I've messed around with photoshop since the mid 90s, so I'm decent at graphic design type stuff and I enjoy printing out cards-that-never-were for me and my buddies.
Thanks for reading my introduction post! Looking forward to getting involved here.
