3 blasters - 3 patch cards. Congrats on the 5/5 but this result just reinforces my avoidance of this product. I'll most likely try one Hobby Box and then see what they have for season 8. My gut says we will see more of this nonsense. I do agree with the other poster on my thread that at least be unique if you are going to do them.

Does Topps think these are popular? Are they popular?

Even the Bat relics. Couldn't Topps work with AMC - have them create another dozen identical Lucille Bats and have them appear somewhere in the show then cut them up and have real bat relics. Those would be pretty cool and I would think would be a nice boost for retail sales. Doesn't seem that difficult to me.

^^^^they used to use real game used jerseys in their sports cards too. The players would change jerseys during the game so they would have game used. Decided to have them wear the jerseys in an office and call them "event used". Really lame and sad to see them moving into that nonsense with non-sports.

I wouldn't read too much into a retail break when it comes to the product as a whole. I opened a hobby box and got a Dixon relic auto /10, costume card of Beth, and a sketch. My first blaster I opened a few days ago had a sketch of Beth. These 3 had the manufactured patches, much like Topps did with Series 1 baseball. While they aren't super popular cards, they are a value add to retail. I would rather get 3 manufactured patches than just a bunch of base cards and rust parallels. I got super lucky hitting a Eugene, mold parallel, and Rosita /5. So I should come out ahead on resale. But in general I agree that these patches don't add a whole lot of extra value. Something is better than nothing though.

Let's use Evolution as an example - I believe the target boxes had exclusive walker relics which were frequent and after a while you'd get repeat of those relics but everything in the box was either a real relic or an autograph etc. None of this patch stuff. I just wish they kept the fake patches out of it.

I agree you can get great stuff out of retail. I've done very well with Olympic cards which also have the fake patches. But in reality I don't want to have a million of these patch cards. I think its indicative of Topps trying to do many sets so close together. Why have 2 sets between season 7 and season 8?

So far I bought one of these and I got an /25 Eugene patch card. If I open another and get another patch card I'll just be disappointed. I just have a feeling they will continue the trend.
