Well, selling on Ebay had been going smoothly...

I had been more detailed about the condition of a card than most are, saying it had a dinged corner and chipping on the back...today the guy writes, albeit nicely, that I failed to mention the ding and two other copies sold for like $50 less than he paid and do I want to offer him "compensation" or should he just return it? This guy paid late and I even through in an extra card since I had forgotten I told him I'd ship free.

Tell him you'll give him $20 back, else wise send it back for a refund if he is not satisfied with it.

So you're saying throw him $20 just to not have to deal with it? I DID honestly describe the card...I think he's just pissed he could've gotten it cheaper (three weeks later).

Oh, and looking at completed auctions they've never sold the low prices he quoted.

Just a suggestion to try and appease him. Otherwise he can probably return it and you be out everything.

Do you have a return policy? How long has it been since he paid? If you don't offer returns and the item is as described he is SOL, but you might catch a neg feedback on it. If it has been over 7 days since payment and you have a 7 day return policy he would also be SOL.

So I guess a lot of it depends on your stated return policy in your auction. Someone else correct me if I'm wrong here.

He paid on the 8th day after it ended. There was no tracking so I don't know if it just got there today or what. I had a 7 day return policy (but now for international I make it 14). I'm more just pissed on principle. He just knows he's got me by the short hairs even if he misread the auction since I'm new.

Believe me this person could make your life hell if he wanted to. Appease him. Swallow your pride because it isn't worth what I am going thru right now with ebay. Just take the advice you won't be sorry.

"appease"---what does that word mean?

Perhaps, if I knew how to be a pushover I'd have a girlfriend, lol. The guy has excellent feedback so I'm thinking he just didn't read the listing (or look at the two scans for that matter). I told him he could send it back so we'll see.

Well, the guy just won another copy of the same card and will send mine back.

Do not refund him until you get the card in hand.

Yeah I know...thankfully, on a better note, my saga with my gretzky/orr/howe card should be over as the guy got it.

I'm just annoyed because I was so upfront about the condition and threw in an extra stuff and now it'll have been an entire month wasted.

I guess the first guy I sold something to was right when he wrote: "Don't be so generous, people will take advantage, but I really appreciate what you did"

Oh well, hopefully the guy just messed up and didn't read it and I get the card back without any shenanigans
