View Full Version : Greg Bird finally back, and I’m actually sad

It comes at the price of one of my top 5 favorite players being sent down, and who I feel is someone that provides the kind of spark and happiness to a team that is priceless. I am seriously upset they chose Ronald Torreyes out of everyone. The guy has paid his dues and would probably start on majority of MLB teams. You can tell he is someone that truly enjoys the game, and he is always smiling or making others smile. I think his attitude and leadership plays a big roll in the Yankees success. It will be odd watching them without him there goofing off and having fun. Hope your back soon Toe!!!

I agree Tyler Austin has been slumping like a mad man, I thought for sure he was going to get sent down.

Toe is batting .330 and plays slick D! He is seriously the ultimate utility guy. I just don’t get it. I don’t see myself smiling as much during games during his absence. He is just a guy that seems so deserving/worthy (not sure the better or correct word) of his job.

Most likely, but I really would like to see what numbers he could put up if he remained healthy for a full season.

One of these is Greg Bird's terrible 2017 season, the other is Rafael Devers in 2018.

48 Games, 7 2B, 9 HR, 20 R, 28 RBI | 11.2 BB%, 24.7 K% | 86 wRC+
50 Games, 9 2B, 9 HR, 21 R, 28 RBI | 8.2 BB%, 25.5 K% | 86 wRC+

If I cared enough to link to the “Who'll have a better career, Devers or Judge?” thread...

Gleyber sitting, Neil walker playing second because the genius sent Toe down. Even as a fan, I hope they get beat until toe comes back. #furious

Their future 1B is starting today for Charleston Dermis Garcia. He was blocked at 3rd so they are transitioning him to 1B.

I don't have a horse in this rivalry, and actually somewhat like watching the yanks now that they're not buying up a bunch of overpriced FA's.

That said, the devers stuff is going to come back to bite you.

I've got a few decent Birds laying around collecting dust that have started getting offers.

Sell now or wait for HOF induction?
