I'm really wanting to refine my collection. I have three basic passions when it comes to Baseball Card Collecting and in this order:

1. Building the Topps Base Set each year: I'm a purist and have or am working on every base set since 1973. I have busted at least a Jumbo case of Series 1, 2, and Update since 2005.

2. Breaking boxes/cases of Topps Products: I love the thrill of breaking the middle to higher end products where there are mostly hits and not a ton of sorting. I normally just keep a few things from each break and sell the rest.

3. Phillies Autos: I love to collect nice Topps/Bowman Autos of current and retired Phillies. I normally keep 1 or 2 good ones of each player, consistently upgrading as I go along.

Here in lies the problem, I've got about 100,000 commons that I would love to get rid of and if possible make a little spending money. They were all organized/collated before I moved and it wouldn't take long to get them that way again. I don't want to just give them away, and I'm willing to sell them off slowly. I was wondering if anyone could tell me a place where it is worth your while to list thousands of cards for setbuilders to buy to complete sets. I know the initial part could be extremely laborsome, but I actually enjoy sorting. Any suggestions?

I'm looking at Sportlots, but would love any tips, suggestions, testimonies, etc . . .

Time to do some sorting:

These are my base sets from 1973 to Present:

I've only got about 60,000 cards to work through and list. Most of them are already sorted.

I feel really stupid, I had thought about doing sportlots a few years ago, even loaded a little bit of inventory and then didnt' think about it anymore. Even looked for it today online but put in "Sportslot" instead of sportlots. Thanks for the help.

Anyone had any real success on sportlots? Any tips on how to succeed? Open for any and all suggestions.

Sportlots.

I do very well with sportlots. Usually make enought money each month to buy a few boxes or nicer auto for the pc. Newer products do the best.

Thanks for the heads up, how often do you try to load inventory and any tips on how to be most time effective and what products are best to load. Remember I'm a Topps/Bowman only guy, but have a good bit of most Topps/Bowman products from 2005 until now.

Do you put all your base on there or mainly inserts/rookies etc . . .

Really looking for any help possible.

I basically put everything on, except game used and autos. The sooner you get new products on the more you will sell. I do really well with topps products because most have sp's, and these sell really well.

Thanks so much for the tip. Is there an easy way to see what price you need to set an item to? Kind of like price range of cards already listed?

What is the bin value when you are loading inventory?

Thanks.

Bin value is just there to help you locate the cards if they are sold, I don't use this because all of my cards are seperated by brand, year, and are in numerical order.
I put all regular base at .18, all others I usually check on the site to see the price range.

If you decide that you would rather move them all together, let me know and how much you would want for them.

But if you go the other route, Sportlots is an excellent choice.

Also, for inserts/numbered cards, try checkoutmycards.com. They do most of the work for you, all you have to do is set the prices. However, 25 cent commons won't work very well on that site.

No doubt unloading them all in one deal would be easy and great, just have NO idea how to go about it, what to ask for, or even what exactly I have. I just know it is a LOT of cards. I'll know better in the weeks ahead and will shoot you a PM>

As a frequent buyer from Sportlots. I love the site. From my perspective, I like to buy from a seller with 1) a good reputation (I pay attention to the seller ratings) and 2) a large inventory (I like to buy as many of my needed cards from as few sellers as possible to minimize postage costs).

I'm pulling all the 3,000 count boxes out of the closet and into the bedroom. Having some fun being remind of what I have, sorting by priority right now, I figure Bowman Chrome and higher end brands will go up first, then my vintage base. I'll probably post what I have sorted as I go along for anyone on here that might be interested in certain players, completing sets, etc . . .

From what I can see there is no fees involved with sportlots until you actually sell, but when you start selling you want to have as high of volume as possible to pay the lowest fees. I'm not so concerned about the fees as much as moving this stuff, but I think I might keep my account on vacation until I have a good chunck of inventory loaded.
