3 boxes 2000-01 Finest / 1 jumbo 2005-06 topps

So this past week, before going on our 4th of July plant shutdown/vacation, I got my award for 20 years at my place of employment. It included a $150 visa gift card. So I took it to my lcs to pick up a few more of the older boxes he had there. So these 4 boxes ended up costing me $116 out of pocket. Had a lot of fun with the old stuff once again. All these that I plan on slowly buying up are all from the time span when I was out of the game. It’s been a lot of fun to see what I missed back in the day.

Opened the 2005-06 jumbo box first. Nothing huge but I was able to put a complete base set together. And looking at the rookies that were in this set was crazy. A ton of names there that just did not pan out. Of course if they had I wouldn’t have gotten this box for $59. Lol

Then I tore into the Finest. Box 1 was kind of crappy, but 2 and 3 had some excitement. I’m sure I could make money buying out all his older stuff and reselling unopened, but I just can’t bring myself to do it. Aside from the headaches of selling that way I just have this need to open things as soon as I get my hands on them. The addiction is real.

Was psyched when I saw the Magic auto. Was always my favorite player as a kid until he retired.

I was hoping for some real refractors at some point. Didn’t pay close attention to the odds, but getting 2 in one box seems pretty good. And both didn’t pop until near the bottom of the box in back to back packs.

All in all a very very fun break. Looking forward to buying more and posting more here.

It was definitely nice to hit the Magic. For sure the oldest Auto I’ve ever pulled myself.

Being a Tar Heel fan it was also pretty fun pulling the black Jamison and the Stackhouse refractor. Those were my guys. When it was ‘Sheed and Stack I was a Stack guy, and when it was Vince and Antawn I was a Jamison guy.

Just picked up his last 00-01 Finest. Also 2 boxes of 06-07. I thought why not take a shot at something with LeBron in it. Time to get to ripping!

Man you aren’t helping... my LCS owner is my good buddy and he just found a 98-99 Topps Chrome box in his barn... I want To bust so bad!!!

That sounds like fun. I wish my guy had some Topps chrome. I was out of the game for the whole time Topps chrome was made. I’ve never opened any. Maybe someday. Just now getting my fix on Finest.

I miss these days. You could buy 5 boxes and be guaranteed nothing then hit a huge Magic auto like that or pull a rare refractor and not even know what you had. Now we get pissy when we don't get exactly what the box tells us we will get and pay $1000+ to open it with an expected return of $200 and a 1 of 1 is so common they have resorted to an entirely pre slabbed product.
