What do you think? Is it ok to price a card like this on a auction site for $1,200.00. What is this card worth? Why would somebody pay anything more than $20 for this card? What would this card grade if it was resubmitted to PSA? Are all these cards going to end up like this? I know a lot questions...https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180704/7cd832fa45a6463b3c859c9c588f31d7.png

Search the forums for greening or hulking, very common for those early finest and Chrome sets.

I can tell you one thing.. there’s no way I’d pay anywhere near typical PSA 10 prices for that one. The greening is bad, but the centering is atrocious for a 10..

Question A - I think it's ugly.
Question B - No.
Question C - I don't know.
Question D - Because it's a Kobe rc card that's gem mint 10.
Question E - Not sure as I don't know if they take green slime into account.
Question F - No, they're not.
Hope that helps.

How do you know that all won’t have some type of greening or hulking down the road? I’ve seen cards coming out of sealed boxes start to green.

And yet it's obvious you still haven't bothered to take its advice.
Seriously, search the forums. Lots of great info on this topic.

Well, if he's owned it without any issues, that's not an opinion. It's a fact that his card has not had any issues.

The question was “Are all of these cards going to end up like this” (with green or hulking) Not if he owned any cards without greening. You should actually read the question he was responding to.

You also asked in your original post, "What do you think?" So asking people their opinion was in your first post. You should actually understand what you're asking.
I'm not sure how much scientific evidence you're going to find in the card world, but best of luck with that.

Yes, his opinion was the card was ugly (which I agree). So asked and answered.
The card world is probably the only ones (other than topps) with the evidence of what is actually happening to the cards. How they are stored, what environment they are stored in etc. Who else would have that information? My opinion is the following. My experience tells me that eventually all cards from certain sets that have shown greening, will show greening in all cards in those sets in the future. There is no evidence proving anything else. Cards are turning green due to some type of chemical breakdown between the ink, paper and card finish. What environmental conditions that speed up that break down are as far as I know are currently unknown. The hobby owns, stores and displays the cards, who else has more information than we do?

No there's no scientific evidence behind my statement. But there is experience. I've been collecting cards since about 1995. In my experience some cards from that era go green and some don't. I have a few examples of some that don't.
This card from 97-98 being one of them. Lots of them went green and lots didn't. I've left it on display on occasions, and had it stored away on occasions. There's no greening whatsoever.

You are 100% correct. You have cards that haven’t turned green. But you cannot say they will never turn green and I cannot say that they will. Also from my experience I have had exactly the same 2 cards (Finest Paul Molitor) next to each other in a box since 1996. One started to turn green around 2008, the 2nd card started to turn green in late 2017. Today the 2nd card is about 50% as bad as the 1st. There’s no way to stop the chemical break down of cards if we don’t know what environmental conditions causes them. I have also noticed that the cards that haven’t turned green have darkened a few shades. Which Isn’t any better.

Maybe copper is one of the chemicals used in the card. Copper turns green over time.

Could it be from old penny sleeves that had PVC in them? Coins that were stored in older flips that contain PVC will leach a green slime onto the coins.

They come out of the packs turning green. They have also turned green in my ultra pro penny sleeves. They turn green just sitting in a cardboard box. The odd thing is the greening pretty much forms 1st on the skin tones printed on the cards. So it’s a combination of the CYMK formula used to replicate the range of skin tones and that formula having a chemical reaction with the finish on the card. I don’t think the cardboard quality has anything to do with the chemical reaction. It also seems that cards that are exposed to UV light after the greening has started seems to speed up the process.
