We are halfway through 2018 and I wanted to showoff some pickups, share some goals and see what everyone else is hoping for in the back half of 2018.

For 2018 my goals were to buy more pre-panini cards and try to buy only cards that I know i'm going to want to be a part of my collection long term. So far so good (mostly)

In the final 6 months of the year i'd like to speculate a little on players. It seems that with the east being wide open it could make for some fun buys. I'd like to go to the national for the first time and take it all in. Would also like to get my first jordan bulls auto. Then of course as always try to slim down my ever growing collection. For whatever reason selling always feels like way more work than buying.

And for my top 5 pickups of 2018. Most coming in the last couple months as ebay really can get anyone to spend with all these promos.

Jordan fleer RC bgs 9. Feel like these have finally come down to a reasonable price point after i missed the boat a few years back.

Duncan autographics. I generally hate paying up for a star who could come in and sign every day especially when so much of Duncan rookie year cards are so cheap but was happy to get my first big autographics.

1996 Kobe gold finest refractor. I know a lot of people are all about these being unpeeled but personally prefer them peeled from an aesthetics standpoint. I think gold refractors from 1996 finest are some of the nicer cards out there and to think it was produced 22 years ago.

This has been one of my favorite auto sets for a long time. UD black had some real great cards mixed in with a lot of garbage. Now if I can manage to find the jordan.

One of the only panini cards i've picked up this year. Potentially the front runner for MVP this season. These cards haven't aged well from a collecting standpoint but when I got back in to the hobby 4-5 years ago I remember just wanting to have a card from the 2012 base set and I think this is the card to have. I really need to take a new pic of this one with better lighting.

Amazing pick ups. Anthony Davis has to be the most underrated guy in the league, and the weird part is we all know it.

I only really started collecting in April, but here are my favorites. All together on my dirty bedroom windowsill.

Goals for rest of year:

Finish out the revolution rainbow, there’s just one galactic pictured there and I have a bunch of others on the way but some are pretty elusive.

Find a gold base Optic rated rookie. Seriously where are these things?

Hoard all of the Kevin Knox cards I can get my hands on - this guy is going to be this years Jayson Tatum. He’ll really stand out as the go to guy on a porzingis-less Knicks team.

Nice pickups for sure. The bolded parts are key to my personal goals as well. Focusing on a narrow PC and slim it down completely. Yes, selling seems like hassles to put it another way.

For the rest of the year, I need to stay rigid on the PC and cut out the excessive box breaking itch.

Favorite pickup so far this year:

There were others, but I'll keep it simple.

Getting harder and harder to pick up big Kobe hits. Was happy to finally land a '98 Planet Metal and I got the Gold Select for a price I was really happy with considering Gold Prizms are starting to tick up.

Starting to pick up Curry again and the Spotlight Signatures set is one of the best auto sets ever produced, in my opinion.

Relatively low to mid-end for the moment, but I think Optic Previews are a steal right now. Glad to have tracked down a Curry. Might get this one graded down the line.

Some nice cards here, congrats all!!

Here's probably my favorite one of late. Hit it in a break about 2 months ago when life was dealing me a pile of steaming poo. Helped pick me up a lot and will probably be with me for a long time I think.

Lord, almighty!

I totally agree with what you said about the 1996 Finest Golds or any other potentially peeled refractor. You don't know what your missing if you leave it peeled. It looks WAAYY better without the peel. I can understand people who want to have it as it "originally" was but there's no question the peeled card looks better. Plus, like I've said on this forum before, most PSA 10's/ BGS 9.5's were graded before the peel started to bubble and wouldn't grade that way again. It's kind of like having a Topps Chrome PSA 10 that has "hulked" since grading. It's not a 10 anymore. Same with unpeeled Finest refractors.

Anyway, that AD is ridiculous as well. I saw a 6k cash deal at the 2014 Nationals for that card. Unbelievable.

One of my favorite Nets ever. Just loved his style of play. A true shame his game didn't age better.
