So, basically, you have to wait about 3-4 years to make any kind of profit. Easy pass.

Select took longer than that. World Cup Prizm took slightly less.

Select was a better product and cheaper, but I think the way these have performed on the secondary market since then has established a "buy as much as you can get" mindset for a lot of people, including breakers. I'm guessing 10 minutes, and that's only because it's way overpriced.

I will say the FOTL parallels still make it a gamble. Not a big one, but a medium. Yea flipping sealed boxes is a no-go on certain products. I know $300 seems high even for a good rookie wave, but have to see them in person. I would never buy FOTL to flip anyways.

If this actually sells within 5 minutes, we have no one to blame but ourselves when it comes to the state of the hobby. This has terrible resale value (like with any other Spectra release), it's from a season that is already over and the "added" hit is a parallel that won't be worth much and it's not even close to justifying the extra 20 bucks compared to the regular version.

FOTL low print run gives it an advantage IMO. I could be wrong ,but I haven't seem one dip below cost yet.

I think Prizm, NT and Optic are the best ones. I only got Select due to price/class. Missed out on Optic though.

Football versions have had some issues. For Prizm, seemed no one could pull low numbered cards like gold/camo. Elite boxes have been missing the FOTL hits. Someone posted that some FOTL hits were in regular hobby.

I think Immaculate was selling under $500 on eBay, but that was last year’s rookie class. I’ll be surprised if Spectra doesn’t dip under $300 in a few months. The regular boxes can’t even hold at MSRP until release date and the extra FOTL card is weak. No reason to pay a big premium.

I'm sure breakers will do fine with this but I cannot see regular people making much with this. Even if you sell a box at $375 after $50 to ship/fees is it worth it? This is not a $400-500-600 product. Spectra is a great looking product that somehow has the following of Timeless Treasures. It's too high end for the low end and too low end for the high end. Look at past products and check what the Wiggins/KAT type of guys sold for. The big hits are unimpressive sales.

This happens with hot wax all the time though. I remember way back when Walking Dead Season Two was coming out. I had bought a decent amount of the first set so I was looking to buy a case for the second one due to a much stronger list of signers. Product pricing comes out from Blowout at $100+ a box. I learned then that the boxes themselves can sometimes spiral out of control just like cards can. It sucked because I had a decent chunk of change saved up to buy a case but got shut out due to such a high price.

I'm sure breakers will do fine with this but I cannot see regular people making much with this. Even if you sell a box at $375 after $50 to ship/fees is it worth it? This is not a $400-500-600 product. Spectra is a great looking product that somehow has the following of Timeless Treasures. It's too high end for the low end and too low end for the high end. Look at past products and check what the Wiggins/KAT type of guys sold for. The big hits are unimpressive sales.

I personally think it's great. There's a big difference between people buying to resell (flippers) and people who happened to sell. I don't think many expected prices to increase as much as they did. I've bought Select, Optic and World Cup Prizm and I have busted and moved some boxes.

The problem is with stuff like Prizm and Select where the FOTL box costs 60% of what the regular pre-sale box goes for.

You can't have your cake and eat it too though. The alternative is that Panini never created this product in the first place and people would still be complaining that they couldn't buy these products anywhere close to MSRP. Even if the window is only open 5 minutes, that's 5 minutes of opportunity that wouldn't otherwise exist. And if the flippers are putting their profits back into the hobby via other means, the overall hobby economy stays strong.

I talked to one major retailer who told me he despises FOTL because it waters down his inventory. That same retailer had Prizm at 3x cost on his website, so needless to say I didn't feel bad. If the big guys are allowed to make millions then nobody should have a problem with the small guys trying to make $300.

I've always liked spectra as all what I'd call an alternative brand (non Prizm, NT, Hoops, Donruss, etc), but the price point just seems to high.

Just the fact that the Rc class from this current year is so much better then last years is enough to make this product interesting. I'm hoping the Top Veteran and Retired auto checklist is much better then last years Players from Around the World checklist. It seems like it would be. I have always liked Spectra much better than Prizm and Select. The cards have a more premium feel to them. I think they look better and you can get some really sick on card patch auto cards. The boxes always go down in price, so I never buy boxes but you can get singles much cheaper than cards sell from in other products and they look better too! I don't know why it isn't more popular.

Behind every hobby there is a business world of people who work in the hobby for income. I've found many card collectors who take it too personal when others are making money from their hobby, but that's the way of the world. There's people who do the same with fishing lures, coins, toys, darts, golf equipment, board games...whatever you can think of in the "hobby" category...there's business minded people behind it all ready to capitalize.

If someone has the personality to convince a half dozen neighbors or co-workers to help them make a profit on cards, then that's a person whose going places in life. It's not like the average person can walk into work and find 6 co-workers to take 15 minutes out of their day to max out a credit card on something they probably aren't getting paid for. That takes people skills and likability. I admire the hustle.

Are all base rookies Silvers? I pulled a Zhou Qi silver and gold in the same box, so that would be crazy if the silvers are two per case.

There was an air raid on Tatum Spectra base. Nebula, 2 waves, and a Silver all bought recently. I'm tempted to list my gold, but won't. It will be interesting if there is more appreciation for the base going forward. Or it's just a Tatum clector lol

Seems like these were hit or miss. I only ripped one box but I got two golds along with a decent wave. That being said, it seems like the waves aren’t selling for much of a premium.

I opened a couple of boxes and my wave cards were terrible - Blake Griffin and Hassan Whiteside but I was pleased with the rest of the box: Lonzo RPA /299 Donovan Mitchell Rising Stars auto redemption, Lauri base parallel /49 and Jordan Bell base parallel /99. Not pictured is a Big Z gold auto /10 that had me amused [emoji23]

I like the cards but the MSRP was just too high on this one.
