Picked up a couple mirror reds/blues and have noticed an issue with the surface, but when I scan I can't get it to show...

There's what appears to be specks or possible mini air bubble dots all over the surface. Is this common in these cards?

I'm guessing grading these with that kind of issue will not be a good idea....the scans show well, but it's much noticeable in person.

The scratches / air bubbles are usually on the thin film on the surface of the card. Many who choose to grade these cards will carefully remove the film (I hear with tweezers).

I’ve found similar issues in my 96 select mirror cards. I was very lucky to acquire a Pedro Martinez gold that had the film (ie, unpeeled) and minimal air bubbles so it graded well.

I personally prefer unpeeled cards.

I peeled one, only because the card arrived with scuff marks on the peel. It was nerve-racking, and I’m surprised I didn’t damage the card. I won’t ever try it again.

I'm guessing if grading with the peel that it may get hit hard...

Yea, guess I'll deal with it...MAYBE grade just to see how bad the surface will contribute to the grade.
Beautiful cards OP
Thank you!
