Am I one of the only few people who are shocked that eBay is running so many of these and effectively taking a loss on just about every single sale that goes through? Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see how this can be good for the bottom line.

If they are offering zero insertion fees up front and the max a seller pays on the final fee is 10%, where exactly is the good coming out of these deals they continuously run and take the hit on themselves? I've got to be missing a piece of it here and would love to hear insight from others.

It's presumably just a loss leader trying to get people used to shopping there.

Also I think the amount they were paying out for the former 2% TRS discount which is no longer offered (only 1% now and only that if you offer to pay for return shipping which few are doing) is effectively being used to cover/offset these coupons.

I would have rather had the hobby case with silver than the jumbo case but i can't complain about what I paid. Would have liked the silver packs though. I did open 24 with not much coming out so it's not biggie.

It's a slow time of year, with lots of people on summer vacation. So they may just be trying to stimulate activity, even if it doesn't make them $$$ in the short term.

For example, the card I bought yesterday was one that I had had on my watchlist for several months, but only made an offer on it yesterday because of the 15% discount & having EBay Bucks to spend. Otherwise it would still be sitting there unsold.

It's a loss leading promo for EBay, just like many other retailers use when they sell items below cost to generate traffic.

Good pickup. His cards are quite reasonable right now. He’s not putting up terribly good numbers but he has a very very high ceiling. The Dodgers are asking him to work on his mechanics and approach and ignore his stats right now. He can fly, he’s a plus defensive center fielder and he’s a genuinely nice guy. Lots of confidence. He’s got a good shot of parking himself in CF at Dodger Stadium for much of the 2020s.
