Quick one - when printing shipping labels for USPS through paypal, I have to choose a mailing date.
If I make it today (Saturday) how long do I have to get the package to the Post Office?
ie can I mail it on Monday if I don’t make it to the PO today?

not sure if its strict. think it just helps with estimating the delivery date for the purchaser. when I get in to the same dilemma of "can I get there Saturday morning", if I think theres a chance I can't I will make the ship date Monday and message the buyer. honestly, don't think it matters much but sounds more like a question for PayPal customer service or the post office to know for sure.

Probably 8 years ago I had like 25 packages that I printed labels on a Sunday and a Monday holiday (I think MLK Day but anyway the PO was closed). Took them to the PO on Tuesday and went to drop them off and they guy was like these say Sunday and Monday as the mailing date. It’s not Sunday or Monday it’s Tuesday so I can’t mail any of these. You have to buy new postage with the correct date.

Thanks for replies. That’s what I was concerned about. It’s a cheap package so I didn’t want to pay twice.

think you have 24 hrs. from when you print the label. I'm sure Mr. ebay will be chiming in shortly.

I really think it depends on the post office you go to. I have dropped off packages that I printed the label on a few days before I dropped them off. Sometimes they say something about it being a couple of days but have always accepted it.

This.. It all depends on the PO some are more strict about it than others.

You shouldn't have to buy new postage. They can print a zero label with the correct date.

I ended up driving around to different post offices that would reprint the labels but the first guy that wouldn’t take them told me I had to buy all new postage

except rate increases usually happen after holidays

I print my postage at night for items to ship the next day. Usually the date is already set for the next day, but not always. I have had several times where I have shipped items with the date marked one day prior. I have never had an issue. My guess is most post offices don't look at those dates, and probably don't care as long as the postage is paid.
I have never told the post office when the date is wrong. I learned a long time ago that some postal clerks make up their own rules (such as the earlier post telling them they had to buy new postage). I don't give them that chance if I don't have to.

I had this happen once before. I went to another post office and dropped the packages in the drop box with no problems.
