Not a huge priced card and I get it, people want to save money...but now it’s just a hassle of returning for refund....

PWE, no toploader...results....ruined card

Please, charge what you need too in order to provide safe shipping!

I had this happen a few weeks back. Card /10 and will never see another again - from 2003. Awesome.

Was off Bay. I have emailed seller and shall see what is said. Shouldn’t be a big deal, but never know. Sad that this was ruined though since it’s his jersey number etc.

Yeah, soon as I saw it the envelope, I knew it probably wasn’t going to be good. Was hopeful, but knew

Boy... I'm thinking now its not that silly to make a youtube video on how to pack and ship trading cards.
I've been getting a few bad packed cards myself but just lucky that I had no damage.

I honestly can't think of any card that I'd want so little that I can't spring $3 to have it mailed properly.

I have had that happen! I have also had top loaders on thicker cards be destroyed also. I just got a card in yesterday PWE the guy shipped in one of those thin things you use to sent to PSA with no fillers and amazingly enough it wasn't run thru a machine and ruined.

Yep-even in a top loader.

Exactly. I guarantee that if it were in a toploader, the same thing would've happened.

This is still my favorite that I got. Box of 2000 Showcase in that huge box with a piece of bubble wrap next to it. Amazingly enough, the cards were perfect inside.

Lol...I'm glad I can laugh since nothing was ruined...that is funny!

Ouch, my condolences

Doesn't matter if it's not a huge card value wise. Its the principle, especially when its for the PC.

Was the Card Saver taped to a price of paper so it wouldn’t move around in the envelope? If so, it’s safer than using a toploader.
The toploaders are too stiff and catch on the equipment when the envelope is flexed. (PWEs should be sent with a “butterfly” stamp and marked “nonmachineable” either way.)

Regardless, a card this thick should never be sent PWE.

I don't think I have ever received an envelope marked non-machinable that has not been run though the machines. Just stop wasting your money--the USPS will run it though the machines regardless.

Agreed. I’ve had a jersey card ship in a bubble mailer (with a toploader) and the same thing happened, but it’s way less likely.

Right, but I’ve received a bunch of regular cards in PWEs and they’ve been fine. Some in toploaders too (taped in the middle of two thin cards the same size as the envelope.)

PWE is okay for thin cards. I'm just suggesting that a regular forever stamp will get the job done just fine, as it seems like everything gets sent though the machines at some point (maybe it's just my local sort center).

I used to send cards ttm to get signed in plain envelopes. I got a bunch of thicker all time great cards that all came back bent like that. Theisman, Archie Manning and Bob Griese I think. They were for me and still in my collection, but sending eBay like that is goofy.

Last month I bought five Tatiana Maslany autographs from Orphan Black season one. The cards came from a UK seller and totaled around $300. Anyway, they came with one card in a top loader and the other four in one thick card penny sleeve taped to the topload. It took an hour to remove the stupid penny sleeve and get the cards out, but they were all in great shape. It was the worst packaging I have seen to date.

I have talked to the seller a few times today. In my opinion he is genuinely apologetic. Says he will use all bubble mailers going forward. I hope so! Full refund, no need to ship card back etc. Seemed like a good guy. Good still exists

Shame that it was ruined though, was a nice card.

I get you now. Good point. Given that PWEs are usually low value, that’s a little bump to the profit margin.

I never ship a card in a pwe that just courts problems. I allways ship cards in penny sleave, top loader, team bag, and a bubble envelope.

I have less issues with PWE cards than I do with cards sent in bubble mailers. Last 3 non-delivery cases were on cards sent with tracking and the tracking showed delivered. Send a couple of hundred PWEs out a month and have not had an issue of any kind on them in about 3 months. The one I did was 3.25 total so it was a simple refund and move on.

This card should have never been sent PWE for reasons others have states a top loader would not have saved it.
