This ones on Falcons medical staff. Don't put a player back in after non-contact injuries.

Tough loss. One of my favorite players. At least Kazee showed signs this year. Hope he can handle some of the load.

I thought torn ACL when it happened, but he came back in. I wonder if it was severely strained or whatever the first time and snapped when he tried to run on it again. The trainers have some questions to answer to give him the green light to go back in. Clearly, shouldn't have.

Yeah. Personally (not anywhere near an expert, but have had 2 torn acls) I think he partially tore the first time. The test they perform to see if its torn is very effective if fully torn. Second time he was injured I think it ruptured.

Sucks as he's one of my favorite players on the Falcons. Only player I have a full rainbow of too.Prefer defense over offense and my top 5 list of current Falcons goes like this. I think each of these guys got hurt in this game at some point except Grady.
Kenau Neal
Deion Jones
Grady Jarrett
Takk McKinley
Vic Beasley

Trufant had to leave the game and Devonta too. Was a frustrating game to watch. But the same could be said from the Eagles fans too. Booing the champs on opening night.

I'm sure this has been asked a million times - but are ACL tears just up in football since the 1980s, 1990s? I don't remember ACL tears back then. But maybe I just paid less attention to the injury reports?

Dan Quinn was a masterful DC for us here in Seattle. I root for Atlanta because I too love the defensive side of the game a bit more than the offense, which is rare I know.
But knowing Quinn, the backups on that team will be very solid I guarantee it. He had an eye for hidden gems.

Doesn’t seem like these guys are in NFL game shape to start the year as well. Cramps everywhere.

It does seem like that. I'm starting to wonder if teams will let their starters play more in the third preseason game and at least most of the fourth preseason game. I know the risk of injury is always there, but I think they would be much better conditioned to play in the first week. It was a tough game last night but I think both teams will benefit from having a "mini" bye week. It sort of reminds me of how teams play TNF in the regular season with only four days in between games. Players drop like flies as it is too demanding with so little rest. I think Sherman tore his ACL on a TNF game.
Keanu's presence will definitely be missed. Word is that they are going to be moving Poole into that SS spot (with Ishmael) to help with the run as Kazee and Allen don't have the size to play in the box. I hope Oliver can develop quickly.

Kind of surprised. I mean Kazee doesn't have the size to play SS. But neither does Brian Poole. I know there was talk of Kazee being the nickel guy, but hes been at the safety spot at least. Brian is going to be learning an entirely new position.

I have a tear in my left ACL that might be completely gone at this point. And my other one by the time I got it looked at several years ago it was already gone. Not to mention the meniscus damage and other things. With all of that there wasn't a time playing sports when I got hurt did I stop. I just played through them not knowing how bad it really was. I'd suspect years back they weren't diagnosed as much and players just played through it much like I did.
To this day even though I'm pushing 40 I still haven't had surgery and play sports sometimes a few times a week. (Volleyball, Basketball, Football). I don't even use braces, only wraps and I'm still an above average athlete. I think today we just take injuries more serious and diagnose them better.

That is what some people on the Falcon message boards were saying earlier. I just watched DQ's press conference from today and he was saying they were going to look at Kazee and Jordan Richards first; he mentioned Poole as well. Really hoping that trade for Richards pays off as he was a second round pick in 2015. I think that defense will be fine as they have a lot of depth in the secondary. I'm more worried about Devonta's knee than anything. He said it is fine, but just glad we have Teco.
