Besides the obvious BGS and PSA for young guns, there’s not a many high end cards that show up graded. Is there not a premium for BGS 9.5 and 10 RC’s?
Modern McDavid cards are about the only ones I see with a lot of graded options. Little to none for Boeser, Tuch, Matthews and other current rookie crop.

I pay a premium on BGS 9.5's because I have a collection of them that I like to add to. My research as a buyer tells me that I have to pay more for a graded one than I do for a raw one. The mid level hobby guys are where I see the biggest discrepancy since it isn't always worth it to grade those YGs. Doughty, marchand, Hedman, most excellent defensemen sell at premiums because not every one of them is submitted (as opposed to a mcdavid or matthews where the buyer of a raw more than likely will plan on submitting at some point in the future).

My guess is a bunch of this is due to the backlog at BGS and the timeline at PSA for bulk submissions. BGS costs a minimum of $20 in order to get your cards back, and charged you up front. PSA at least charges when the order is graded, but costs $8/card now with a minimum of 100 cards bulk order, and takes 65+ business days.
I normally only grade cards to sell if I think I can triple the grading fee. So now the grading has to make the card worth $25 more in order for me to grade cards just to resell.

Lower end young gun rookies sell very well. Its a crazy market. One day a card can sell for $20 and the next day the card can sell for $100.

There definitely should be for Boeser. 17-18 Young Guns had quite a few flaws in cutting so getting a BGS 10 is very difficult.

I see Future Watch autographs of all the big names show up in PSA and BGS slabs quite frequently on eBay.
Hockey market is not as is into grading as other sports.
More so that the demand is from Canada where grading is not as feasible.
Plus lot of "collectors" don't care for slabs/grading.
If I get a 9.5 bgs I usually only pay 10-20% premium at best for it.
Set collectors are a big thing for YG/fwa and those true collectors don't care for slabs. They always tell me they would buy it if it was not graded...

I agree with this. As an Ultimate collector, I won't buy graded cards...I just prefer my stuff not in slabs, and I think most set collectors feel the same.

I've made A TON of money off of mid end YGs this year getting them graded.
An $8 raw Alex Tuch is $20 in a 9 and $40 in a 10. In a bulk sub, there's no way I lose money.
Easy way to turn a clean, $30 Boeser into a $60-80 bill.
I think the rarity and lack of them makes them a bit more desirable. I get a better ROI on hockey stuff than I do on most mid-end baseball

This is so true. When I got back into hockey with the McDavid/Eichel rookie class I submitted soooooo many Young Guns to PSA. The 10s were super easy to spot and made for some of the easiest flips I could remember.
The 16/17 class even more so at release anyway. The prices certainly came down a bit but even Laine PSA 10s were 150+ for a long while. People were paying upwards of 300-350 for Matthews when they were only 175ish raw. 10-15 bucks to grade with PSA after shipping and there was easy money to be made.
Even the non-mega-hit guys like William Nylander were selling for 75-90 as PSA 10s. You could pick them up raw for well under 20 bucks for a long while.
And kudos to Upper Deck. The quality control on base cards from their flagship set and SP Authentic is excellent. I love Topps but man do I wish Upper Deck still had a baseball license. It is 100 times easier to find a gem quality card out of an Upper Deck series 1 or 2 pack than it is Topps flagship baseball.
That slowed down quite a bit after a few months but it was a great ride!
