Question I’ve been pondering, what is the appeal of the next day autos that makes them higher priced than other regular auto rookie cards?

To me the design is plain and it’s not numbered, why the demand? Is it timing of the release first rookie on card auto in nba uniform?

Next Day Autos are photographed, printed and signed during the Rookie Photo Shoot which is kind of neat, I guess.

I agree with OP, though, the Next Day Autos are not good-looking to put it nicely.

The next day autos were initially valued because of their rarity (even they are not serially numbered) and the their concept stated above.

However, them maintaining value with each year's release, I think is now mainly due to price memory. People remember them to be expensive, so they remain expensive even though people have already forgotten why.

I think it's because those are the first cards signed by the new rookie class. They might get released after others but those cards were still the first ones to be signed.

That they're signed during the rookie photo shoot so there's no chance they had a friend do it or use autopen. It's usually their full auto before a player shortens their signature due to having to sign it ten thousand times. Also not being numbered shouldn't be viewed as a negative IMO as it sort of adds to their mystique.
