I am a fan. I wish the checklist was shorter. I do not want a MKG auto in a $1,000 product but the high end hits are nice and unlike anything is GS and better designed than Preferred. Again, a breakers dream.

So...here are my takes on Opulence:
1. I was never a fan of gold standard, so this product does not especially appeal to me.
2. I don't understand the price point, since it looks a lot like gold standard.
3. I like the Barkley autos, but it's going to be more than I want to pay.
4. I have never been a fan of booklets.
5. Some of the designs would have looked better as die-cuts (e.g., Gold Records).
6. The RPAs and autos look really nice

Needed a shorter checklist. Some nice cards but I don't understand who comes up with the price on these. Rather see panini pump the price on things like prizm/Nt/immaculate that consumers have no shot at getting near suggested retail price anyway and release secondary high end like dominion, vanguard, noir and this at (much) more affordable prices.

I think the logoman itself was much larger this year so they couldn't fit it in? I hope they use the top part that says "finals" in some of the prime versions.

Only product with patches only is Flawless and that’s more expensive. Noir was until the last 2 iterations.

I understand the skepticism between price and un-high end player choices in the checklist, but every single product has to have many loser boxes to have the good ones. Even Flawless has lacking name power cases.

I just want people to break this product so I can nab singles. This summer has been rough for singles from products issued July or later.

It'll sell out. First year "high end" products nearly always do. So it'll be a "success" in that Panini made it's money. The real question is wether it will be a critical/collectable success. I don't think it will. They're two very different ways of viewing "success".

Tatum posted on his snapchat or instagram story a Very sloppy pile of his RPAs he was signing a month or so ago. There was momentary uproar from the usual posters that never intended to buy or own one in the first place, so it all died down pretty quick. His RPAs at least will be live.

We have a couple of anal clectors here in regards to bashing group breaks. Stick to Panini and their product pricing instead of bashing breakers in general.

I did my first group here on BO with 2010 Bowman Baseball and haven't stopped since. For all the thousands of dollar in boxes and cases in the last 8 years, I have gotten just as many keepers from group breaks as all the personals combined, actually more without specifically counting. Getting nothing in a group case break is the same to me as getting a pile of cards of players I don't collect. I'm not in this to re-sell, but to find keepers. Don't be hatin' lol

I am. I do group breaks since it's now the only way I have access to high-end stuff other than singles. I'm not saying group breaking is great for the hobby, and I think it's definitely the reason Panini has cranked the presses on this rookie class, but it is what it is, and it's not going away any time soon.

There's two sides to everything. If we didn't have the flood of new products, there would just be more demand for the other stuff, which would drive prices even higher.

There's absolutely no way this stuff should be more than a couple hundred a box. It's a slightly better Gold Standard......and that's only because they put Preferred Finals booklets in it. But I can't fault Panini......if I could sell Quarters for $5 a pop, I would.

I forgot about Impeccable. Panini needs to look down the road a bit. Upper Deck did their share of pumping out products ,but nothing like this. Panini has turned boxes into mini cases.

I'm staying away from all the high-end stuff for a couple reasons. First, it's all player worn. Second, there are a million different RPAs and variations to choose from. I'm happy over on the shallow end with Prizm, Optic and Revolution.

There are some decent cases to be had. Idk if I just got lucky or if the sample size is too small to tell yet, but as an example, my case had a shaq team USA auto, Malik monk rookie gold auto /10, Wes iwundu rpa /79, josh Jackson rpa /79, Kyle Kuzma rpa logo /79, and d Mitchell rpa logo /10. Some other hits, but those were relatively small. Just saying that as the sample size of cases grows throughout the weekend, I’m hoping more cases fall like this rather than like the dogs u guys had mentioned seeing opened!

I take it back!!!!! Opened another case and best card literally was a kyrie patch auto /25!! Jonathan Isaac was best rookie. Absolute garbage! Was left literally speechless, what do u say when u open such a hyped and expensive product and get maybe 500 worth back!? I know it’s a gamble, been doing this a Long time, but this is epic garbage IF most cases look like this. Maybe I lucked out on the first case lol. Cancelled my order for 3 more cases. Hope I’m wrong and that was just a very bad case but I can’t chance 3k plus on that. If this is what most cases look like then panini really dropped the ball on this one. Hope I’m wrong...

On a lighter note I think the base look great. Not on a Gala level but I see these being sought after cards in the way Exquisite were. Maybe the RPAs won't be NT level but they are solid, add the base, booklets, finals patches, I'm diggin it.

Panini can't win though. If they did this then they would say it has too much gold and relate it even more to Gold Standard.

At the end of the day this is a nice product. Maybe overpriced but I know that Platinum breaks has done at least 24 cases, Blez has done at least 9, I'm guessing thetruth has done a bunch. It's another option for those who want it.

That is a bygone era. Topps at least resembles what your remember a decade ago under their license. Have you seen hockey lately? Very little superiority in product design and limping along with worse redemptions. Rookie redemptions are the only bet right now with UD, but those have risks too. For all the Panini banter, their redemptions have been fine to me. Of course I don’t redeem much anyways even if I pulled it.

When the sample images came out, I was massively excited for this product. I really wanted to get a box, and needed all of my self control to hold off.

Thank god I did...first brake I saw and I was stunned, and not in a good way. ?They too0k Gold Stamdard (~$150-$200 a box) and Preferred ($150-$200 a box). Then they mergd them in to one product, and charge< $1,000 a box!

This is damn close to Flawless money, and IMHO the product couldn't even match Noir. Boxes were selling for $2,000 apiece here in Australia - I cant even imagine the degree of regret I'd be feeling if I bought a box.

The only thing "Merged" from preferred is a Finals Book... that's it. People are getting hung up on this product being the lovechild of Gold Standard and Preferred, when in fact it is Gold standard on Steroids and they added 1 single card that used to be in preferred, period. In most high end, it's top RPA, logoman or bust. Incidentally, that is why Crown is appealing this year bc you get some value back and the chance to chase Silhouettes for mid tier box prices.

I think you're a bit high.Best bet is to hope LeBron, KD, and Curry pop up and go for a big $. Even a Klay Love, Draymond, etc. sale would giive you something to work with.

Duncan's went for 10k the year they won.
Kawhi went for 5k the year they won.

I think you have to consider if you are trying to sell sending to PWCC or Probstein and letting it run. It's probably the best card pulled so far and the more it sits there and the more you keep lowering the BIN the lower the value is. Let an auction house just run it.

Agree with all this. Losing in the finals + leaving on bad terms is crushing. After they won could have seen his going for 10-15k. Most recent biggish one to sell was a Draymond selling on eBay a year or so ago in 2.5k range.

I'd take 12k and run. Unless this brings more than preferred because the products more expensive and we don't know it yet...because of there being no sales to base it on (Michael McAdoo sold for $800..not familiar with him).

Last Kyrie Logoman/Autograph (cavs) got 7.6k ,so that's actually pretty high compared to some of 2nd tier players or 1B logoman/autographs. Whatever you want to call Kyrie. Again, best thing that could happen is a top guy get listed and sale for a bundle.
