Does the format of an ebay listing matter?

Hey all, I couldn't find anything on this. But has there been any research into the correct format to list for views? Or do we think it doesn't matter?

For example...

Baker Mayfield 2017 Panini Elite Auto /10
vs
2017 Panini Elite Baker Mayfield Auto /10

Same for lots...does leading with the name matter?

25-card Jake Butt 2017 RC Lot
vs
Jake Butt 2017 25-card RC Lot

I can not answer this with facts but I always figured that you would want to have it as close as possible to what the buyer would type in. For this same reason I found lots to be more of a challenge to list and sell because it is unlikely you will be able to list it exactly how someone would search for it. On your first example I feel like the second one is more likely to get results as someone is more likely to type in "Baker Mayfield Auto" and look through.

Search filters will seek out any words in any order. Makes no matter.

They also look for known extensions. Jake Butt auto should bring up Autograph. But if I'm searching like this "Jake Butt (auto) it will only look for exact hits. And I won't see the listing under "autograph"

The algorithms for searching (especially with eBay) are very robust. Very similar to google's search. As long as you don't include specific searches, the order is irrelevant to how it returns results. Specific searches meaning you put words/phrases in double quotes (so, for instance, if you search 2014 Prizm Pink with no quotes, it will search on that combo no matter the order, but if you search "2014 Prizm Pink" it will look for that EXACT phrase in that order and only that). You can further limit the searches by doing a minus sign/hyphen right in front of a word. For my 14 Prizm search, I can say

2014 Prizm Pink -Select -Spectra

and it will exclude any titles that have select or spectra included in the title.

And, I just noticed that's a bit more information than what was asked for.... But, maybe that will help people with their searches on eBay and Google :)

Spot on! The good old days I could search auto* and it would bring up auto, autograph, autographs, autographed ETC.

Ebay killed that feature and went with their own search instructions. Now my searches look like this, with all of my "Minus" Searches :

Bears Helmet (signed, signature, auto, autograph, game, used, autographed, full size, fs, f/s, pro line, vsr4) -sketch -non -break -box -parade -micro -mini -car -nameplate -case

Completely agree. Add in that they now call the VIP cards Prizms and that just adds another to the list I have to specifically exclude:rolleyes:

Never really have that issue with Chrome cards. Every now and then people don't list their cards right though.

Panini just should of chose a different name. It's weird owning a Prizm Prizm card.

Agree. I think this might have been one reason for why we now refer to these as "silver" prizms.

With regards to thread, I like listing name first always in title.

Basketball refers to them as silvers. I don't think it's caught on in football yet.
