Have had a few chances to pick some sealed 90s wax up and passed. Always second guessing myself. What do you guys that are more familiar with the history think the ceiling is for some of the top late 90s wax? Metal, finest, EX...... all of it. Appreciate all of your thoughts and ideas. Thanks

I know the heading says was not WAX! Damn auto correct

The ceiling is the roof, as a former Tar Heel great said!

Honestly man it’s hard to follow what you’re asking. Is your intention to invest in sealed boxes? To buy and Open? I would advise against buying to try and flip later. I figure prices still have some room to grow but not enough to make reselling worthwhile.

If you’re still thinking of buying to sell later, the only thing that matters is how low you can obtain boxes of 90s product. 90% of it is now overpriced and overvalued. There may still be some gems but maybe you can find them offline.

Thanks for the reply. Yes that’s what I’m asking is if any of it has room to grow or if it’s maxed out. Or close to maxed out. Appreciate the reply and look forward to more.

Still going up. Limited supply for all the new collectors globally who got in late. Young People collecting in the 90s finally having money to relive the nostalgia.

This fits me pretty strongly. I collected until about 2001/02 (and for a teenager had a pretty robust collection) and then was out for about 15 years before coming back 18 months ago. You just can't beat that 1997/98 product line.

OP as to your initial question, which I interpreted as the most expensive sealed wax from the 1990's, I feel like 97/98 Metal Universe and 97/98 E-X 2001 are the clear cut #1 and #2, respectively, and then there's another tier thereafter that fluctuates. Hope this helps.

There have been a couple of times where I've seen wax at shows and wondered if it was a good deal or not. I know eBay is a reliable reference, but it'd be nice to have some sort of a list or "cheat sheet" for 90s/2000s wax prices.

I would also appreciate it if people would stop jacking up the prices on their Topps Total :)

Unopened is typically one of the safer long term plays. It is guaranteed to go down in supply. Ask long time collectors if they ever expected to pay over $1k for a 1979 Topps BB wax box or for a 1984 Topps FB Box. There will be starts and stops and ebbs and flows to any market but as long as you do your homework and you don't grossly over pay the current market you will do fine in the long run. At least that is my opinion.
