Aaron Gordon’s upside?

I’ve been watching him since the dunk contest where he competed with Zach Lavine. Definitely he is getting better little by little each year but can he carry the Magic to the playoffs? It is a perfect environment for him because there is no other star player on the team, demanding the ball. What do you guys think?

I've never seen it with AG. His ceiling is S. Marion and I doubt he ever becomes an integral part of a very good team.

Yeah, I just don’t think he has “it”. He’s a tremendous athlete who doesn’t seem to use his gifts as much as he could.

He seems to be getting better every year.

He's still only 23.

If he develops for another few years I could see a ceiling in which he becomes an all star reserve once or twice in his career.

My opinion will probably be unpopular here, because he's been in the spotlight for so long without really taking off.

Meanwhile, up until 2 hours ago, blowout was going gaga over Caris LeVert, who's a year older than Gordon and putting up comparable stats overall.

I think by year 5 we learn who a player most likely is. He's a great role player, but I don't think I can ever see him being some type of franchise game changer. He's still quite undersized for the position, which is why he camps at the 3 point line a lot.

I agree. Now I am thinking he is not going to reach the level we expect. He will be a great role player when playing for a contender team.

Biggest problem is that he's a tweener.

Lacks the finesse to be a SF.

And also lacks the size and strength to be a dominant PF.

I thought today's NBA his trajectory was meh... then he developed a 3! He's shooting a respectable 36% from 3 and has the ability to get to the hoop. He can be a solid #2 on a good team. I don't think he's a #1. He had a great year last year and if he keeps building he will be very good for a long time.

I don't think he's anything like Kevin Love and he's already better than Harrison Barnes. But I do think like his best case scenario is Blake - current Blake, not Clippers Blake.

Most realistic comparison I can think of is the Marion one. I don't think he can be as good defensively but he can be better offensively. But he still needs to get better to get to that level.

I think they were pretty similar players at their respective ages. Thad had range, too.

Young has had a quietly nice career, I just see Gordon's ceiling as higher offensively especially.

I've watched him since his rookie year. He's improved in nearly every meaningful statistical category every year since 2014. This year he's been hitting his little mid-range step back more consistently as well. He's still very young and will continue to get better. I know he's not a max contract or cornerstone guy, but we're really excited to have him for at least the next 3 years. He wants to be here, Orlando loves him and I think he has All-Star potential.......AND.......he was absolutely robbed for that 1st Dunk Championship vs Lavine. Lavine did the same dunks w/ minor differences over and over and over again, while AG came with insane athleticism and creativity. Not important I know, just figured I'd put that out there while we're talking about him :)

He’s a stud. As others have said, he’s made noticeable strides every year he just has to stay healthy. Played against him twice a year in high school so will always root for the guy!

Guy is inconsistent as all hell but that seems to be a problem with almost all of the magic... I had him in fantasy last season and he'd throw up a 40 point game, then a 16 point game and then a clunker 5 point game. It was crazy frustrating becaus he's a freak of nature and oozes potential

it's so funny. i have heard management say they plan on keeping those two. they might currently be among the best players on the team but they need to let the young bucks struggle and run free. fournier and vuc are not in the long term plans and they can both be used to gain picks or assets. think the lakers couldn't use a guy like fournier?

I just can't see Vucevic staying. He's on a contract year and they have Bamba they'll look to develop soon. Fournier is a chance to stay if they don't look at re-signing TRoss who is also playing well on a contract year.

Point guard play is a worry at the moment.

I think he has much more upside on the baseball front where he goes by the name Aaron Judge.

Once the fall comes around and he changes to this Aaron Gordon guy? Not so sure he ever takes the league or hobby by storm. Still impressive he can play both sports so well.
