Does anyone ever send a message to a buyer asking them to leave positive feedback? I have several auctions that ended about 12 days ago. The buyers paid, I left positive feedback, and shipped the cards the next day. I know all the cards have been received by now, but I haven't received feedback. What do you guys do if anything in this situation. Thanks for the help.:)!

I have never contacted anyone (buyer or seller) to ask for feedback. Feedback is completely optional.

I leave feedback as a buyer when cards come, as a seller once the individual pays. Its totally optional. Some times I get feedback left automatically for me (typically if I'm a buyer and I just left feedback), but some people (typically sellers) leave feedback once a week (or month) as time allows. What I tend to do is not delete my sales that don't have it just to see if someone does leave me feedback but I've never requested it. It urks me when someone asks for it, so I figure me asking would do the same thing.

I only leave it once the buyer/seller leaves it, I do get alot of people asking for feedback though after they received their item but havent left any for me

I started doing it because of the ebays performance bonuses when I had my power seller status. I'll eventually get burned on it, but I'm selling so little on ebay now, I really don't care. I've got a few more rounds of misc stuff Im going to sell then hoping a few of the options I know of in the works happen.

Who cares about feedback, I care about DSR ratings. Have anybody been able to get buyers to leave good feedback, I am wondering if you let the buyers know what to leave that they will leave you all 5's if they understand what it means?

i leave feedback once a month.........., this month so far, i have to leave around 400. i couldn't imagine trying to leave feedback everyday or two days.

I've considered adding a note in my shipments asking buyers to take a moment and consider providing DSR scores and if I have not provided '5' service to them in any category to please suggest how I might have achieved that.
...but I've only considered it...
The thing that kills DSRs (IMO) is single card shipping. With fees and raw costs, shipping will be 2x as much as a 99c card. I think I figured out my raw cost to ship an item as $1.49 -- I could go less with the card in a regular envelope, but then I think I'd end up with damaged cards.
...but, if I charge $1.49 for shipping on a $0.99 card -- I think that i end up paying about $0.60 in fees after paypal, FVF, listing, etc...so I 'make' $0.39 on a single card sale?

Yea if anybody has any good ideas and are actually using them to achieve high DSR ratings let us know. I don't know how to let buyers know how important good DSR ratings are without pissing one of them off and will give you all 1s cause they are ebay scum.

As a buyer I leave feedback as soon as I receive the card.
As a seller, when I mark the item as shipped I contact the buyer letting them know that their item has shipped and provide them with the tracking info(if available). I also ask them to leave feedback so I know that the item has shipped and as soon as I recieve their feedback I will leave feedback for them. If I don't recieve feedback I won't leave feedback.

I think the buyer should always leave feedback first because they are the one that needs to be satisfied with the service. When I sell I always mail the payment receipt (if paid by Paypal) in with the card and put a notation that DSR Feedback would be appreciated. Then I leave feedback when the buyer leaves feedback.

I disagree. If a buyer pays you quickly, why hold feedback back. If you've done nothing wrong and stand behind what you sell, you shouldnt have any problems with feedback. Obviously this statement applies to those who are also honest and legit buyers, not those that are looking for a quick buck or scandel. But we also tend to here about the bad ones. I've had less than 5 bad ebay transactions (well over 2000) so there's plenty of good ones out there and I'd like to think theres way more of them than the bad.

After I recieve payment feedback is left. With ebay's new feedback rules there is no advantage to waiting. As fish said I stand behind what I sell and will gladly offer someone a refund if they are unhappy with their purchase upon arrival. I have feedback trickling in from sales done over a month ago....for some it is not tops on their priority list.

Agreed. Although I know some sellers who recieved bad feedback and have had friends/family buy from the same person who left the negative and they all give him negative feedback or low DSR scores. It is kind of messed up but funny at the same time.

You can be suspended from eBay for doing this, so I would be careful if anyone out there is considering this.

i leave feedback once its left for me & heres why... i used to post first & half the time wouldnt receive it in return. i think it should be reciprocated. if i get it i make sure to do the same. just like everyone says its optional which is perfectly fine but i dont feel i should build up someones rating & not get the same courtesy.
and for the sellers that do the same practice, when i'm the buyer i'll look at their feedback to see if they return it once received, then i'll post first knowing i'll get it too.

I use Auctiva and its easier to just let it leave fb automatically, so it does after I get feedback.
