Is it just me or do Mason Rudolph cards seem high? I didn't watch him in college, is he something special?

All Steelers backup quarterback cards seem to always be high. See Landry Jones in 2015/2016, R Joshua Dobbs in 2017.... Mason Rudolph is just the shiny new one. It's baffling.

It’s the Steelers effect. If he was on the Chargers behind rivers his cards would be way cheaper.

You don't watch college football do you? He was a beast at Oklahoma State.

Brandon Weeden was good there too. :)

Zac Robinson was a stud there too. The Patriots drafted him in 2010, he actually had some collecting value for a few weeks. Until they cut him at the end of camp.

Has there ever been a Oklahoma State QB that wasnt trash in the NFL? Like, ever?

Side note, my favorite will always be Aso Pogi!

I think collectors/investors are trying to anticipate the next young backup playing behind a veteran QB that may find a starting job soon. Most recently like Patrick Mahomes backing up Alex Smith, but also guys like Aaron Rodgers backing up Brett Favre, Drew Brees backing up Doug Flutie, Tom Brady backing up Drew Bledsoe, (kind of Jimmy Garoppolo and Tom Brady as well), etc. They’re hoping Mason Rudolph will takeover for Ben Roethlisberger (or another team) and have similar careers to the guys mentioned above. I think there’s a trend when a rookie QB spends a year or two backing up a veteran QB, they often times end up in that elite QB category. And I think people recognize this and believe Mason Rudolph could be the next guy to follow that same trend as Ben Roethlisberger gets closer to the end of his career. They’re hoping Mason Rudolph learns from one of the best in the NFL, and by the time he starts he’ll be pretty knowledgeable and experienced. I’m not saying he will be, or his prices are justified, but I think he’s in a good position to be a good NFL QB. And if he does, his prices will skyrocketed and you would have wished you picked up a nice rookie auto of his while they’re cheap! By the way, I don’t own a single Mason Rudolph card, but I can see the appeal Just my 2 cents.

How dare you guys add Luke McCown to that list. He has had a 14 Year NFL career. Albeit, very uneventful. I still have 5 of his 2004 Leaf R&S rookie auto's that i am waiting for a breakout game. ;)

Very good sir. And nowhere in my post did it say anything about them killing it at OSU. Just pointing out all the successful quarterbacks drafted by the Browns.

Did you not say Rudolph dominated at OK State? And then get pissy (and bring up Browns QB’s for some reason) when people talk about all the other system dudes at OK State

Including Weeden

Got to give both those guys credit .. Yes Luke didn't have nearly as many starts as Josh but to make it 14 years in the NFL is a feat in its own. Even as a backup

Pretty much the reason why I'm scooping up all the Teddy Bridgewater's I can. Buy low, sell high.

All backup QBs that are young with any hint of potential cost way more then they should. Everyone wants the next Romo and Brady.

One of the perks of not having your team make the Super Bowl in decades is that you can easily afford to buy the backups QBs' rookie cards.

Same with Patriots. Broncos had that feel for a while. It's a guaranteed win.

I’m sitting on one of Kizer’s best rookie cards. I’d guess it’s worth like $40 at most.

He was good in college, backing up Ben, hopefully he can learn a thing or too before he starts. Its easier to invest in him then say baker right now. Easier if you are a steeler fan though lol

I have a good feeling about Rudolph but yeah, his cards are more pricey than I would like for trying to add some to the PC. Don't really like to put big money down on guys who haven't really played.

His rookie contract will be up by the time Ben retires and we still may know nothing about him.

If Big Ben gets hurt and Rudolph is the 2nd String when it happens (two Big IFS) then I can see you one week opportunity for a 2x-3x spike in his card values. Then It all depends on that start. Either lots of eBay returns  or to the moon. LOL

Doesn't this happen every year though where Ben has to sit out for a couple games due to injury? There was a little tension when the Steelers drafted him and whether or not Ben would mentor him and Ben said it's not his job and he didn't call him or anything. Kind of showed Ben's true self there because he was being pissy about it, maybe the stuff AB was talking about? But I guess Mason said when Pre-Season came around Ben was helping him out so who knows....I want the draft to come and Pre-Season to start already damn it! Fook this minor league FB!

It’s a dumb play call by Todd Haley with hardly any time left in the game up by 10 points. Apparently everyone in the huddle rolled their eyes at the play call. Ben wanted to kneel down. One of the teammates said Ben purposely fumbled it to show up Haley.

And finally the truth comes out via Ben's backup at the time, Bruce Gradkowski. So now Josh Harris has had his 15 minutes of fame and can move in with his life.
