View Full Version : Sage HIT - Why is the design so bad?

I've always wondered why the design of HIT and the other unlicensed stuff is so incredibly bad. Just watched a break of 2019 and its like comically bad.

I swear they must have a running joke to see how bad they can get and people still buy it.

There are 4 fonts on the front of the card alone. Why is there a chain link texture behind the players? The Auto and Next Level designs arent terrible. Speaking of next level, the Portrait and Instant Impact inserts are next level awful. I remember back in the mid 2000s where they had contests to design an insert set for a few years and those were bad too. I know there were good designs because I entered those and it was so frustrating to see what they chose.

I've seen plenty of wonderful custom designs from users here who I bet would love to design a set and would do it for product or a low fee. I know I would.

Does graphic design affect your buying choices or is it just about scratching the itch no matter how ugly the cards are?

I'm sorry. I make the design in my uncle's basement on his old Pentium 333.

It's hideous! I bought a Mahomes auto on here and sold it a couple weeks later because I thought the card was so unappealing. I still managed to sell it for $190 which is the amazing part.

They are really ugly base cards this year , the portrait inserts are also hideous , they are cheap generic looking filler for people who just have to get the newest cards. I might buy some but I doubt I will be very active in looking for them. Even the autos are just uninspired and bland as all get out. Sage used to make some really good looking cards , I still hold out hope they can and will improve.

Yeah kinda lol , 2017 base was boring but no one could really hate it too much , 2015 was worst set ever made IMO , 2019 set looks horrible for the most part , base set design looks cheap , dated and just plain busy.

Yeah, these have been brutally poor quality since inception.

Cheap cards, cheap autographs.

Buy them or don't.

So he finally upgraded that ole Epson 286? About time!

How do you think they keep the product inexpensive to buy? They probably have one junior unpaid intern that barely knows how to use photoshop to make the designs. They're going for the collectors who don't care too much about cost (like those that can't spend very much), but still would like an auto of players. If you can't afford 2000 for a Mahommes auto from Panini, a 100 dollar mahommes auto that looks terrible is a cheap alternative.
