After the uptick in Chrome refractor prices, I asked my friend if he had any good ones from when we were buying a bunch of 2008/09 Topps Chrome. It turns out that he has a Lebron 1/1 Superfractor. Question I want to raise is whether it does anything to get it graded as it’s a 1/1 or whether he should just list it? Also, what value do you think it could go for on eBay? Thanks for the help!

It’s going to bring a ton. Not sure the exact price. Grading doesn’t really help 1/1’s but there are people who like them graded as a third part opinion of authenticity.

Under/over on pm’s? 20?
Post a picture if you can. I know lots of people would love to see it!

If it is legit and is not a knockoff or a reprint, he is looking at $30,000 easily.

Thanks. What’s the safest way of having it graded without risk of it getting stolen in the mail?

Hand deliver it to the grading company at a show or at their HQ

Not broadcasting that you are going to get it graded on the internet is a start...

Yes, it was pack pulled. We were buying a lot of boxes in 2008 looking for the D-Rose RC auto... I think he has a Kevin Love Youthquake rookie auto 1/1 as well, but will confirm

Get it graded, if you can land a PSA 10 on the card you will sell it for a lot more. I've seen a ton of nice cards move recently and anything that was significant enough was graded for maximum returns.
I'd recommend over night shipping and the fastest grade/return time option they have.

Thanks. May suggest he goes to a show to have it graded. Is eBay best route to sell? Heard there are a lot of scammers on there recently

For a 30k transaction I’d recommend not doing it via a third party... jmho

There are definitely a lot of scammers on there, however, my suggestion to you is to go through PWCC or Probstein, PWCC is probably your best bet for maximum return. When most guys care about maximum selling prices, they will grade and then sell via PWCC.
I hate to give them any publicity, but if you want the most money, grade it then consign/sell through PWCC so you don't have to deal with any scammers or their bull sheet.

...by the way, I would imagine that it will bring more than 30k, there's a guy who supposedly paid 24 grand for a Lebron gold refractor which is numbered to 50. A 1/1 should bring more, especially if it's graded consigned through PWCC.

Oh I agree, I’m thinking absolute bottom, PWCC just sold a PSA 10 gold from 2008-09 for $5998

Gotcha'
I'm not having a go at you at all either. Actually interested in seeing what it will end up selling for.

Oh I am too, just wanted to say between the red at $10,000 and gold price this is where I was getting my opinion from.

I'm thinking the 24 grand sale you're referring to was a 2003 rookie year chrome refractor gold. So there's quite a premium there.
That said, while this is a 5th year card, it should still command a pretty penny. Any superstar 1/1 superfractor from the licensed chrome days is a big deal, regardless the year.

Wow! I didn't know about that Red. Haven't seen one of those in forever and was wondering what it would fetch. Incredible.

As others have said, grade and sell via PWCC which I would look in to hand delivering depending on cost.

There is a huge K Love 1/1 collector on here. I think he has 300 of em.

Depending on where you live taking a flight and doing an in person drop off is the safest. PSA will do appointments for high value items. This would qualify. Even for me being in Canada this would be the route i'd take for an item like this.

This is one of LeBron’s most iconic looking cards with him doing the chalk throw before the game. You should try and post a pic. I’d love to see it.

So how much is PSA going to charge to grade this card? I would imagine a small fortune.

This seems crazy to me.
Firstly, how a non-rookie 1/1 parallel could be anywhere near that value.
Secondly, why the heck grading would affect the value of a 1/1. It's the only one!

Depends on the grade I guess.

Grading would make a big difference IMO.. not really the grade itself but the fact that it's authentic, encased, documented. Plus the consigners will charge less of a commission fee for graded cards so it would be beneficial to all.

This. i just recently got a pretty unique 1/1 card in and i plan on consigning rather than reveal and have player collectors try and guilt trip me. and grading will lower the fees and makes it easier when there is buyers remorse.

I would tell your friend to absolutely do whatever he has to do to not sell this.
The red that sold yesterday lasted a half hour before someone hit the bin at 10k. I think that guy could’ve held out for at least 15k for what golds are getting and how few red brons that are out there.
This exact card came up in conversation with my friend. 08 grades great and if it gemmed I could see 40-50k. Blah blah nobody cares about 1/1 grades...psa 10 of this would be insane.
Whatever he does just make sure he doesn’t get sidetracked with a 20k offer just because it’s a lot of money.

It's not Kemp, is it? Because if it is, I'm going to aim this new Guiltmaster X1000 Satellite Dish I bought from the military right toward your geographical location.

Yes I agree with chasacar86, I’d it’s a centered one then it should grade well and definitely grade it preferably thru PSA.
Then you can send to PWCC or hold onto to it later for an even higher fortune, oh say when he passes Kareem ?

Sorry, I won’t make the call on posting pics since it’s not mine. Seems like grading will definitely be the route to go in order to verify authenticity for buyers.
