I was wondering the exact same thing. I felt a little odd that BO has been offering for points.

If you look at your purchases on the FOTL boxes too, on the bottom below the confirmation it states Rewards used... You can't use them yet but I wouldn't be surprised if Panini lets you use them as store credit in the future.

I have done this before on low #ed cards that stated 1 per household. Ordered one and delivered to my home address/Ordered another and changed address to work address.

They cancelled the 2nd order and sent the 1st one to my house.

The plan is just for more reward based packs. This was the first year that they had an entire set released via rewards (Kaboom). The problem is, there are only so many unused points in the ecosystem, so Panini has to print more and put them out there in order to move the product they are creating.

The reason you see "Total Rewards Points Used" at the bottom of the cart is because the App Update integrated the Rewards Program. They aren't going to create 2 separate POS systems to handle two types of purchases that can be made through the app, so they just integrated everything into their one POS.

BO started buying the points, or at least posting the rewards poster, AFTER the Kaboom packs released. They probably realized, like other posters on the forum pointed out, that there weren't enough points available to purchase all the Kaboom packs. By hoarding massive amounts of points, they are able to purchase these packs and sell the packs for cash while holding a majority share. The points are just a means to an end for BO. They don't have any inside knowledge of what Panini has planned, because Panini doesn't even have a plan.

It was talked about on this forum, but the Rewards Program was jank from the beginning. It may have had great intentions (less redemptions), but since it wasn't done the right way from the start there was always going to be something wonky.

Since the point cards didn't, at the very least, replace a tiered level of card from a specific set Panini just printed these into oblivion. If I pulled a 15,000 point card from Optic, I expect to see a $400+ card from Optic that I can redeem with my Rewards Points. That obviously isn't the case, as I can cross brands with Rewards Points which in turn disturbs that ecosystem.

Since Panini never tied these things to a brand/tier within that brand, they just issued thousands upon thousands of points that would never truly be cashed in. They had a glut of points available, cards in the Rewards market that nobody wanted, and needed a way to take points off the market so they dropped the first WS packs on the Rewards site. They also slowed WAAAAAAY down on inserting points into product. This seemed to have worked for the past few years. People would hoard points and just buy out the WS packs.

This year, we got an entire set released on the Rewards Program, and Panini quickly realized that they didn't have enough points available to cover the Kaboom packs + the WS packs. Thus, Optic was packed out with huge point totals to clear out this inventory.

Going forward, you will likely see a few Rewards exclusive sets like Kaboom (not how the program was intended) as well as Parallel sets like White Sparkle put up on the Rewards site more often. This will be an attempt to keep the ecosystem balanced, since nobody is spending their Rewards points on junk cards.

Bottom Line: Panini JUST NOW came up with a plan on how to handle the Rewards program. The future of the program could change, but it will be due to some unforeseen circumstance like not keeping a ledger of how many points are in the market to buy up your Rewards Packs.

The other issue I have with the current rewards system is when the cards are uploaded. IF there is anything good they are gone so fast it is like trying to get a FOTL box. I saw the Baker 8x10 Signed print and it couldn't have lasted 2 minutes. Had it have been available I would have bought that and been fine with it.

Man that's such a cheap shot charging customers at least $10.47 per order. Packs shipped in a 3-4oz. bubble mailer should be $4.00 max. Or these can easily be done via flat rate priority mail for $7.00 with the envelopes provided too. Thanks. Panini just emailed me that info too. I couldn't remember if my previous FOTL orders all said processing or ordered and with multiple people saying theirs already shipped had me slightly concerned.

No. You are not wrong at all. I just like to open packs. I think the LeBron will sell well as well but it would be hard to turn away $80+ guarantee for a 1:200 chance at a Luka.

If there is an even distribution for the entire print run you have around a 1:25 Chance to make extra money

I don’t think there’s any white sparkle autos. No clue what the high-profile RCs would sell for either. But if you like to rip (and do it upon receipt from Panini), this is one of the few Panini products where you’re likely to get >= 100% ROI across the 4 cards of a given pack (assuming you paid ~$30 for 1000 points).

I rarely rip product these days (unless it’s free) because as fun as it is to rip, it sucks to constantly get 25% ROI. I rather just pick up singles. But I love ripping these WS packs because of the aforementioned reasons. With that said, if your goal is to maximize profits, it’s pretty much a no-brainer to sell. In the end, depends what you want to do. But if you want to rip a product that returns equal value (or more), this is one of the ones to do it with!

Also, there’s a lot of good vet cards (don’t sleep on that LeBron Laker WS)!

Unless the Luka is extra SP’ed, you actually have a 1 in 50 shot (2% per pack) to hit the Luka since it’s 1 RC per pack (and 50 rookies in Optic)

Only reason I ripped these 3 packs ... cost me $10 in shipping.

I still have my 10 prizm white sparkle packs sealed and put away. Cost me ~$80 a pack (+ sales tax since I live in Texas). A little harder to rip at that cost
