View Full Version : Any ideas on where to go with a PC when it gets stuck?

So I'm the Seneca Wallace PC guy, and my PC is stuck. I've got like 33 cards I still need, all /100 or less and most are 1/1's. I know where like 2 cards are...the others I've never seen.
Any ideas what I do now? It's been over a year since I bought a "new" card. So I'm just wondering what others would do. I love my PC overall I just wish I could get closer to completion. But it has been 16 years since 2003 (When the bulk of Seneca's cards came out). So I get why it's tough.

The only reasonable option when you run into this problem is to start a new PC also. Hopefully not as comprehensive as the last one.

Branch out, new PC. I collect one player and I am down to 3 1/1s and a card that I cannot confirm exists. I branched out and collect several other things now. It took me 15 years to track down the last non 1/1, the in between can be quite boring so I feel you on that.

Get ESPN to pick up your story and see if you can increase your exposure.
Only half kidding. I’m sure someone would run a story on your collection. Good luck.

Option 2: Tweet at Seneca and convince him to play for the XFL.
Boom. New cards to collect.

Tough spot to be in. Always try contacting local card shops of the teams that drafted him and In the area of his college.

I was right there with you with my Marcus Trufant collection..same team, same year, around the same amount of cards. I'm down to 20 non 1/1s. I saw the writing on the wall as I was adding 1 or 2 cards a year and he was getting old. So I switched to Kam Chancellor. Now that Chancellor has retired and it's getting harder for me to find new ones to add to the collection I'm probably going to start a new player pc.
You just need to move onto a new project in your budget. You can still add to the Seneca PC when something pops up. Maybe apply for super collector status on scf to show off the pc and have people message you if they find/have one you need (I added 6 Trufants this way).

Expand your collection from cards to:
Signed memorabilia
Tickets in games he played
Strands of his hair
Press Photos
Used toothbrushes
Photos of his kids from a distance.

From a card collecting standpoint, this resonates. I concur on the starting a new PC option. If the Seahawks are your team, a suggestion would be to pick a player they draft this month so the chase will be from the beginning. My hockey player PC is at a near stand still since I own nearly everything worth owning of him card-wise. So I branched out to a basketball player and now have baseball and football covered just to have something to search daily. Even then, I’ve always been a selective collector, so pickups still come and go in waves.
Hope you find a new niche. The card hobby is still a great pastime despite its flaws.

What are you still looking for? I’ve been opening 2000s boxes, if I hit something you need I’ll just send it to you.

Love all of these ideas, especially the XFL as I was a big fan the first time around (And I thought AAF was cool). Seneca did play in that NFL flag football league, but I think he's done otherwise, unfortunately.
I do have a few other PCs, but I never get quite as passionate about collecting most of them. My closest is Shyrone Stith, but he's getting to a similar place where I've kind of stalled. Plus he's a 2 years and done RB versus Seneca's decent length QB career, so Stith's cards pop up even less. I definitely collect some obscure dudes!
I'll have to look at the supercollector thing. For a while I didn't think I qualified, but I think I do actually.

I only need 33 more cards, but 22 are 1/1's. So if you just sent me something I needed, it'd probably be a 1/1 lol. Every card is super rare and the least rare I need is /55. But I appreciate the offer!
Here's my Stith collection since it's all 2000/2001 in case you find anything - https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=671784
