View Full Version : COMC storage fee and S&H question

COMC's website says all items listed at $0.75 or less, the storage fee is free. Is that $0.75 asking price, or is it $0.50 + $0.25 (S&H)? So, to get the free storage fee, I have to list a card at $0.50? Or $0.75?
This $0.25 S&H is causing me a lot of confusion. I don't understand why it's built into the price for every single card I have for sale. Many cards I sell might not even get shipped, they might just get moved to another COMC inventory. So why the $0.25 fee and who's getting that? COMC? On every single sale?

You can set the asking price at 75c and will not be subject to storage fees. COMC add the 25c and yes, they get the 25c on every sale to buyers who aren't in advanced mode.

The extra quarter is only being paid by the end buyer if you're in advanced resellers mode. If you're not, you're paying it when you buy, but then get reimbursed for it when you sell. So COMC is not making an extra quarter every time a card is flipped. Price it at 75, which is $1 with the embedded quarter, and it won't have storage fees. Once you get over 10,000 cards in stock, consider uppgrading your account for $50/month and getting free storage fees on cards with price of $2.50 or less.

This $0.25 S&H is causing me a lot of confusion. I don't understand why it's built into the price for every single card I have for sale. In the old days, there were no embedded shipping charges. The cards cost what they cost and when you shipped them, you were charged 25 cents per card at that time.
It was common for people to buy 2,000 cards for a dime apiece, then check out and then rage when they were faced with a $500 handling fee.
As a solution, COMC made it so that you can shop in "Simplified Shipping Mode" or "Advanced Reseller Mode". You can adjust this in your settings.
In "Simplified Shipping Mode", you see the card price with the handling fee attached. If you buy the card, you pay the handling fee. If you sell the card, your handling fee is refunded (even if the person you sold to didn't pay the handling fee). If you take physical possession, the handling fee has already been paid.
In "Advanced Reseller Mode", you see the card price as the base price without the handling fee. Almost everyone here has opted to be in Advanced Reseller Mode. When we talk about a card being 75 cents, we mean base price 75 cents, not the $1 that a person in Simplified Shipping Mode might see the card in.
At least one person around here stays in Simplified Shipping Mode. They mostly deal in higher dollar cards. Even though they pay extra when they buy, they like the fact that they can ship their entire port back home for $3.99.
99% of people should switch to Advanced Reseller Mode once they find out about Advanced Reseller Mode and never switch back.
If you ever want to see which cards are going to trigger a storage fee, you can go to
"Inventory Manager". Then under "Show Items", select "Subject to Storage Fees". Then you can see how many cards this applies to.
COMC has an incentive for people to ship exactly 100 items in a shipment. At the end of a month where you shipped 100 items, you will get $5 credit in your account. If you ship 200 items, you get $10 credit, and so on. However, if you ship 99 items you get $0. If you ship 101 items, you get the same $5 as you would with 100 items. So, it is common for people to build up purchases until they have exactly 100 items to ship.
In some cases, they might reprice the cards at a higher price just to see if someone doesn't buy them before they ship. In other cases, they might simply mark them "not for sale". If a card is marked "not for sale", then it will not trigger a storage fee.
Storage fees are triggered at midnight on the first day of the month. This is also when you would get your $5 shipping bonus.

Does the $5 credit reset every month? Say I bought 80 cards in April and 20 in May and ship them in May. On June 1 would I get $5 credit or must the purchases be in the same month and shipped?

Resets to 0 every month. Have to ship 100 cards that month to get the $5 the following month. Shipping 99 in Apr and another 99 in May gets you zero. When you purchased them does not matter, only when they are ordered to be shipped.

See above and to be 100% clear, you would get the credit in this scenario.

As mentioned, in the above scenario you would get the $5. You would even get this whether you acquired the cards 10 days ago or 10 years ago.
Also, it counts for every shipment in that month. So, if you shipped 20 cards on May 1, 20 cards on May 10 and 60 cards on May 31, you would get the $5 credit.

Man when I try to search for anything on the blowout forum I get nowhere, so sorry if this question has been asked in this thread.
My buddy and I both have separate COMC accounts, we work together and were wondering, can we send a submission shipment to COMC in the same box? But separated?
Like he has 150 2019-20 cards to submit for 3 week/35c per card service; and I have 115 2019-20 cards to submit for 3 week/35c per card service.
Does that make sense, we submit quite a bit as we acquire cards, so it would save quite a bit on shipping costs. I was thinking we could separate the cards in some way with their own COMC slips with each submission, but they'd all be contained in one box with one shipping cost.
Thank you!!!

I wouldn't recommend it, but you could certainly try. I know they can separate different services in the same box, but don't know about different users. Just be sure to have everything VERY WELL marked. If you have them in separate containers (i.e. snap cases) it would help more. If they are all loose together, it might be tough to differentiate when they unpack.
